Jodi Gordon set for Cops LAC at Nine

Actress Jodi Gordon has been offered a role in Nine's newest drama series, Cops LAC.

Actress Jodi Gordon has been offered a role in Nine’s newest drama series, Cops LAC.

The news follows stories this week that she would be leaving Home and Away, first reported that she had quit, then followed with another report Seven had let her go.

The Sunday Telegraph reports she first auditioned for a role on Cops LAC two weeks ago, well before contradictory stories emerged.

During the week co-star Lynne McGranger told NEW FM, Jodi was not pushed from Seven.

“I will say that’s absolutely wrong. It was her decision,” she said. “She has decided of her own volition it is time to move on.”

Cops LAC producers looked at Gordon for a second role after deeming her too glamorous for the first part she had auditioned for. She was asked back to audition alongside Gyton Grantley for a different role.

“Yes, she did audition, she was outstanding and she has been offered a part. We expect she will accept the role,” a Nine spokesman confirmed.

TV Tonight has more details on the character breakdown for Cops LAC. Is this the role she read?

Probationary Constable Priscilla Smith
Priscilla is nineteen and fresh from the Police Academy. (She prefers ‘Smithy’ to Priscilla). She is young and obviously inexperienced but she has tenacity and a strong desire to make a go of this policing business. She’s strong for her size, a fast runner and fearless. And all of that helps. Priscilla decided to become a police officer because, like so many others, she wanted a profession that would allow her to achieve something tangible – “to do something” with her life. The idea of being a young woman who can command respect has huge appeal for her. She loves the idea that when she has a uniform on, people – and especially men – will not think of her as a pushover in any way. Both of Priscilla’s parents died when she was young – her father when she was barely out of nappies and her mother when she was seven. Without any other relatives to look after Priscilla and her younger sister, they were put into foster care. She was loved and nurtured by her foster parents and Priscilla loves them dearly.

Gordon finishes filming with Home and Away next month.

Cops LAC will premiere on Nine this year.

  1. Go Jodi

although i will miss not seeing her on home &away, i think it’s great that she is going ahead and doin what she wants, lets not forget that this is jodi’s decision to make and we should support her and channel nine in that decision, she is a fantastic actress and will do very well in her new role.

who cares if there are home and away acters in Cops LAC, doesn’t mean that it’s not going to be a good show, it hasn’t even been on tv yet, so i really don’t understand why everyone is rating it out.

i look forward to seeing Jodi and of course Kate in Cops LAC.

Good luck with the new show channel nine

  2. Jodi is beatifull & she is a good actress & so is Kate Ritchie. Going into other shows can prove to people they can act & both ladies are srtong actors.
    You go girls.

  3. her and xavier are some of the worst actresses h&a has ever had. but if jodi is with 9 they should look into using her as a personality. i really liked her on DWTS.

  4. I have to agree witheveryone that has said that Cops LAC is a terrible name. They need to chage it. Why do Nine need to keep attaching acronyms to their show names. That is so last decade with CSI, NCIS etc. LAC is so misleading too. People will think it stands for Los Angeles Cops rather than Local Area Command. Nine should have learnt from the silly name they gave Rescue: Special Operations (RSO). They need something more catchy for the title.

  5. I’m glad she’s been given another chance. She was a rubbish actress when she started on Home and Away but she improved alot. She could blossom away from the soapie genre. But really, Cops LAC? What an awful name.

  6. I agree with ducko.
Have not seen much of Jodi’s work but Kate Ritchie is a good actor that one day will be in the calibre of Rebecca Gibney given the chance.

  7. (She prefers ‘Smithy’ to Priscilla) – wait a minute I have heard the nickname Smithy in a police show now which is it oh I know The Bill. A coincidence or not?

  8. Just because an actor appears in Home & Away doesn’t mean that they are poor actors. Let’s not forget that actors such as Guy Pearce, Heath Ledger, Isla Fisher, Ryan Kwanten, etc have been in H&A. It’s also true that a lot of dodgy actors have also been there.

  9. Home & Away is rubbish but that doesn’t mean all the actors are. Kate Richie was superb in Underbelly. Also that guy who was in H&A years ago..Dieter Brummer?..was also very good.

I’m glad Nine has given her a chance as well all make mistakes and she didn’t hurt anyone unlike Matthew Johns.

The show looks good too & it’s nice to see home made drama on our screens.

  10. Good for her.

But i must say with her and kate ritchie signed on it doesnt seem like a very intense cop show or that it is trying to be taken to seriously. I dunno. that character description screams Blue heelers meets Days of our lives. Have to wait and see.

  11. Oh dear, looks like Nine’s newst drama will turn out to be nothing more than a Home and away reunion!

I wish TV companies wouldn’t employ ex Home and away actors. The show is awful and to see actors of it shoved in my face in every other show is really anoying.

I wont be watching Cops LAC because of it having 2 ex Home and away stars in it.
