Rumour: Clip show pilot

So which network is currently developing a pilot of a new clip show idea?

So which network is currently developing a pilot of a new clip show idea?

If it gets off the ground, could it be their very own answer to 20 to 1?

That would be the network that hasn’t tried one yet….

TV Tonight hears its early days yet. And only a pilot so far…

  1. @tasmanian devil, it doesnt matter about the people featured, it’s still a clip show. The fact that it shows clips from other material makes it a clip show.

  2. I have it on good authority that it is Seven, hosted by A OK and Sonia Kruger.
This is not a joke. I wish it was. Didn’t anyone notice no-one watched Bert this week?

  3. @Nathan – How does TV Burp sound familiar to 20 to 1 or Spearman Experiment? The latter two are “list”-style shows where D grade celebrities make unfunny comments. TV Burp takes clips of TV shows from the week and the host ridicules them, and it’s actually funny.

  4. I don’t think TV burp classifies as a tv clip show, it was actually funny by the way…

Seriously though who watches stuff like 20 to 1. I can’t stand the way fta tv is shifting so much towards nothing programming, designed to be tuned in at any time, by anyone where they can pick up, leave the room, come back and it doesn’t matter.

A bunch of c-list celebs who have just been shown a clip, given some scripted comments and then told to ad lib some comments, or describe the clips that have or are just about to be shown. It’s just all terrible.

  5. We don’t need any more clip shows. We don’t need any more panel shows populated with comedians. We don’t need any more quirky John Edwards dramas that nobody watches. We have enough cooking shows & police dramas.Thank goodness Variety seems to be on the way back.

  6. I think we all know deep down that SBSTWO has finally gotten in the game.

Now there’s an Adults Only 20 To 1 that would actually be worth watching… even with the subtitles.

  7. but regardless of which network it is – assuming it is a commercial network – is this really the best they can do with their share of the $250m windfall from Mr Conroy??? This is what taxpayers can expect from their donation to the networks?

  8. I wonder if it’s the network that doesn’t seem to have an original thought?

i.e. the same network that copied Come Dine With Me/Masterchef into My Kitchen Rules? the same network that took Spicks and Specks and made The White Room? the same network that decided it was easier to buy up Kath and Kim and Thank God You’re Here instead of having their own idea?

  9. And lets hope that it does not get commissioned. We already have enough cheap rubbish on TV, umm the White Room anyone? That is a clip show/game show. I caught the last 10 mins of it on 7TWO on Sunday night, it was woeful. I only recognised 3 of the panellists, and I cant stand any of them. The hosts were boring, and set was terrible and the questions were easy.
