Bret Michaels “in positive spirits”

Bret Michaels' publicist has said in a statement the singer is still undergoing tests but was in a stable condition.

In the various reports on Reality star Bret Michaels’, the LA Times notes his blood sodium level is low and that’s not great news.

The news was categorised as a “minor setback.”

Michaels is being treated for a massive subarachnoid haemorrhage, more commonly known as bleeding at the base of the brain stem.

His publicist said in a statement the singer was still undergoing tests but was in a stable condition.

Michaels, reported to be in an Arizona hospital, was also described on Sunday as suffering from slurred speech and blurred vision. Doctors said he was lucky to have escaped death from the brain hemorrhage last week, and he is now in “positive spirits.”

Online reports on Michaels continue to conflict about his condition (including one noted here via TMZ).

His father, Wally Sychak, told celebrity news site Extra on Tuesday that he had spoken with his son by phone. “He sounded a little slow, but fine. He was talking, not as cheerful as he usually is. But I guess he is under sedation.”

The Poison singer and Rock of Love star is not expected to return to Celebrity Apprentice.

“I can’t imagine he’s going to be in the final,” Donald Trump said. “But knowing Bret, he might very well be. I just hope he makes it. Forget the show. He’s such a good guy.”
