Following on from The Bounce, Seven's Thursday nights get a major overhaul as Cougar Town and How I Met Your Mother are yanked.

When the boss of the network reckons a show is “shit” (his words not mine) it’s a big ask for the rest of the country to support it.

Seven has pulled Cougar Town and How I Met Your Mother from its Thursday line-up effective immediately.

They will be replaced by repeats of Criminal Minds. Added to Wednesdays, that means it’s now repeating twice a week.

With The Bounce also pulled from some cities, Thursdays have had a major overhaul by Seven.

7TWO will also be pulling Heartbeat from 7:30 Thursdays to be replaced by Airline USA from May 6. May have been too similar to Vicar of Dibley audience and splits the Seven audience.

No word on when or where the two US comedies will resume.

  1. Two of the only shows I watch on Seven – Poor form Seven. Give the ratings boxes to people with brains and some of the good shows might remain on air. No wonder I spend my advertising money on all the other channels and ignore Seven.

  2. I’m not impressed at all C7.

    I had a sneaking suspicion during the HIMYM marathon that something was going to happen.

    HIMYM is one of a very small handful of shows i actively go out of my way to watch, so i have to ask they bring back this bloody great show ASAP….I sure as hell am not going to watch force-fed criminal minds.

    Pull your heads in C7.

  5. Seven is by far the worst offender of what I have come to call “Berley programming” ,fishermen familiar with the practice scatter a bait (advertising) see whether or not it attracts the right number and type of fish(Ratings & demographics) wait a little while,get impatient and move on.
    Unfortunately all the Commercial channels have made an art form of this, and every time they try fishing in a spot I like and then cancel my permit it just makes me think why aren’t I just using a Bit torrent or file sharing programme and just getting what I want in Bulk…(Fishing with Dynamite) which of course none of us should never do!

  6. How Dare you.. You cant. these are like 2 of 4 shows I watch. my tv is never turned on until these shows are on.. You cant cancel them.. You MR Boss Man need a hard kick up your ar*e because You have no taste when it comes to show if you are putting the matty jones show ahead of these two. Matty jones is so Super lame, reminding me of that very annoying, “the wedge” show.

  7. Where is the logic of putting TWO repeats (Vicar of Dibley / Criminal Minds) efore a brand new episode of The Amazing Race….. makes no sense.

    An old people’s show followed by a violent ‘adult’ show followed by a family show.
    Channel Seven you annoy me.

  8. I understand moving CT but not HIMYM, I think CT be replaced by 30 Rock, why is it that it that its a popular award winning show and it has yet to get a primetime slot even to try it out. As far as I can recall it was never on prime time the earliest it has been on is 10.30 pm and I can’t figure out why.

  9. … and as for HIMYM, I shake my head at channel 7 for doing this to us … fingers crossed they find the comedies a new timeslot or a place on 7two … i’ll watch at anytime (even if it means taping it every week) just to be able to see these shows!!

    Cougar needs a few more episodes to settle down
    Mother is already there – or would have thought
    Must be performance based wage review time at the networks
    This probably being a KPI… all the programmers are scrambling

    Exactly right, they should at least move them to 7TWO or make an announcement that they plan to, if they don’t have the scheduling room at the moment

    Really makes me wonder, in this age where there are now two channels for each commercial network, why we’d have to miss out or not see any certain show that begins its broadcast on either channel within the network, with the exception of it going on a break in the US

  12. Why is it nine can have Two & A Half Men every 5 mins but Seven can’t have How I Met Your Mother when clearly it’s a better show? Can they put them that and Cougar Town on 7Two at least?

David the thing is it all start with the VCR and now has moved on to PVRs and the Internet (legal or otherwise) everyone can be programmers today, watching show they want, when they want and not worry about programing conflicts or missing the start or end of their shows, or for than matter too many ads you get on FTA and some Pay channels.

  15. I love the Vicar, but not when it’s up against MasterChef. Cougar Town is definitely a “sh*t show”, hence why viewers evaporated. Then again, so is Criminal Minds and yet they think it’s good enough even in repeats. A line-up of repeats deserves to fail.

  16. the reason i stopped TEN was because of this and now Prime are doing it aswell!! Come on i will give my soul to a company that will launch a channel that is actually on the viewers side and lstens to what we want instead of their own self indulged needs (which they know so well as their head is that far up their a**’s)

  17. What an odd decision to put a repeat of criminal minds on at 830pm instead of moving amazing race to that time, putting new fam guy at 930pm, new American father at 10pm followed by flash forward @ 1030.

  18. For F**k sake!!! First time such a move has really pi**ed me off. This is ridiculous.

    And they are letting the Vicar of Dibley stuff up all the timing with them having to go 15 minutes into each hour. WTF are they on, why would they do that, they think because Dibley has saved them a few times on Saturday and Sunday that its going to work Thursdays??? It will skew as old as hell, and Getaways already there so thats where oldies will be, plus they’re repeats we’ve seen a thousand times before. Ridiculous

In Sydney this would have been good, you’ve got families watching The Matty Jones Show or I’m assuming, why not put the Amazing Race on at 8:30pm nice family sit down show, then put FlashForward on at 9:30pm, then at 10:30 or 10:45 whatever Amazing Race finishes pushing FlashForward, forward, anyway put new Family Guy and American Dad at 10:30pm, and then a repeat of Family Guy or something else on at 11:30pm.

  20. I’ve been enjoying Cougar Town on the 7 website when I choose, rather than on TV when it suits the station. Also the 3 ads are only 15 seconds long and it’s easy to mute the sound.
    There are other places to find it if they dump it off the site.
    Bye bye 7. I’m not interested in reality rubbish and silly or sensational documentaries.

    CT had to go, but replacing it (and HIMYM) with a CM repeat, the day after another episode of CM, is not smart.

    Should have 2 comedies at 7.30 (HIMYM and maybe 30 Rock, not sure what else they have), then TAR at 8.30.

    FF should be on 7TWO.

    I was really looking forward to finally having a decent night of tv – Cougar Town (not the best, but not the worst either), HIMYM and The Amazing Race. Instead, I now have to suffer through repeats Vicar of Dibley and Criminal Minds, how are these going to rate better? Stupidity…

  24. Seven really are having a tough time, and it’s all deserved. More Criminal Minds and Vicar of Dibley repeats and continually supporting that NRL show disgrace. Not a great move.

    Well enjoy losing to Nine again Seven, I guess Ten must be sending champagne to Seven for letting them have all the lovely demos without any effort.

  25. Stupid Seven. HIMYM & 30 Rock should be 7.30 and 8 on Thursdays, then the Amazing Race. I never had a problem with Cougar Town, thought it was funny, but Thursday schedule was all wrong. Seven’s to blame for their fall this year, by stuffing everyone around, the wins got to their heads and treated us like crap so people are switching back to Nine. I still hate Nine only watch Survivor and Footy Classified, with most of my shows on Seven, but i hate Seven just as much now.
