When it finally returns to air next week, Hey Hey It's Saturday will begin the first of two x 10 episode blocks for 2010.

When it finally returns to air next week, Hey Hey It’s Saturday will begin the first of two x 10 episode blocks for 2010.

There are also three State of Origin games to be played from late May midweek on Nine.

Another block of 10 episodes will air later in the year, likely to begin around September.

This style of block episodes is becoming a popular trend in Aussie television with Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation also returning for more eps later this year after airing a final episode on April 18th.

  1. I still don’t understand why it is on a Wednesday night? I was never a fan the first time around – but for those who are fans wouldn’t you want to bring back family entertainment on the weekend? And why is it on for 2 hours on Wednesday night. Young children won’t be able to watch it for the full two hours and like SYTYCDA which airs for too long and too late during the week people will which off.

  2. So the finale of this part of Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation ends on the same night the New Doctor Who series starts (am assuming it will air at 7:30pm as a regular time) , that is a fairly smart move by TEN given the final Tennant one likely took some of it’s audience.

  3. Still calling it Hey Hey It’s Saturday (when it airs on a Wednesday) makes about as much sense as the Woman’s Weekly (which is published monthly).

  4. @Ed,James,Dan,Zed.. It was Not HD… Just because it is on an HD channel doesn’t mean the source camera’s and control room are HD..!! As confirmed by Ed…

  5. I really don’t know why 9 thinks that the reunion shows doing well means that the regular shows will too and I predict that ratings will fall this year. I could be wrong, but it’ll be interesting to see how it goes.

  6. Seasons of 2x 10 episodes is a good idea – it keeps things fresh, people don’t grow complacent, the show can develop off screen, it mixes things up on TV…

I just wish You Gen was on weekly, best Aussie show on TV!

  7. A family show at 7.30pm on a Wednesday night (school night) is never going to work!

That’s what made it popular back in the day – a good family show on at 6.30pm on a Saturday night that could be enjoyed together over dinner and before bed.

  8. The fact that a show called “Hey Hey it’s Saturday” will be playing on Wednesdays tells you everything you need to know, about the program and the network that are putting it on. They should have called it “Hey Hey it’s 1985”, God knows they seem to think it still is.

  9. Hey Hey will definitely last the twenty episodes that they have this year.

A campaign should be started on the Facebook site to have Hey Hey it’s Saturday return to Saturday nights in 2011.

  10. See I always thought Hey Hey was only returning with special eps, a few during the year, what happens if people in 2010 ore over the show and it bombs. Unlikely but it could happen, maybe they will shift it to Saturday Night LOL
