Returning: Merlin

New Merlin episodes are heading back to Sunday nights on TEN.

As previously hinted, Merlin is coming back to TEN, to its regular timeslot of 6:30pm Sundays from April 25th.

Once again it pairs with MasterChef Australia, at 7:30pm, to create a family entertainment night. The Good Wife will air at 9pm and House at 10pm on this date.

It returns with “The Curse Of Cornelius Sigan,” an episode with a synopsis that includes what is surely one of the funniest lines this year:

An ancient tomb filled with treasure is discovered beneath Camelot, which Gaius is determined to seal shut, fearing the tomb belongs to an evil sorcerer. Meanwhile, new servant Cedric muscles in on Merlin’s position as Arthur’s right-hand man.

Riiiiiiiight…

  1. hi my name is claire and i really like your show.
i try watch it all the time.
i come from melbourn sorry i might of spelt it wrong.

    you are talking to claire

  2. I watched Merlin and Masterchef last year and I watch The Goofwife too this year, Sunday Nights are going to epic week in week out! 6.30 to 10 pm – TV!

  3. 10 giveth with one hand and they taketh away with the other. I was so looking forward to hearing an airdate for Merlin, but it has been soured by the loss of supernatural.

  4. About bloody time. My little brother ought to like it.

@ Craig: Knowing David, he must have found something homoerotic about the synopsis. You know, muscles, positions and all that (oh, and a character named Gaius!).

Johnson: yes TBYG is back later in the year.

    1. Sillyghostly you must have missed the stories from the UK in which viewers have been commenting on gay subtext. Both cast and producers have acknowledged fan reactions, and indicated no problem with it.

Bradley James (Prince Arthur) said: “It’s great that the show is causing such a reaction so early. But believe it or not, I take it as a compliment. Colin and I discussed our relationship and how we wanted it to develop from the start. And I take it as a compliment that the audience is seeing something there they can use.”

      It certainly worked for Xena.

  5. With Glee back to Thursdays and Merlin back to Sundays, what exactly are TEN planning for Wednesdays, the toughest block of programming to fill? Given the dominance of Hey Hey, the hype of The Pacific and ABC1’s always reliable Spicks, and the fact that to my knowledge they have nothing left in the cupboard, it’s going to be very tricky for TEN.

  6. Hey daqua.

Talkin Bout Your Gen did get renewed for 22-26 episodes. The thing is though it will be split up in 2 parts. The first part was to air at the start of the year and the second part to air in the last half of the year. It will most likely return after Masterchef has finished and most likely back into its 7:30 Sunday night timeslot where it has done pretty well for ten.

  7. This season is really very good. It adheres to the familiar mythology a bit more than the first did. Highly recommended.

At least it doesn’t air opposite Doctor Who, because that would seriously suck.

  8. daqua_99, the plans for Talkin’ ’bout Your Generation are to break it into two parts. Probably expect to see the second part of TAYG’s 2nd season from around the conclusion of MasterChef Australia.
