Charlie Sheen signs for 2 more years of 2.5 Men

It was all just bluff after all, as Charlie Sheen signs on for two more years of his sitcom with a salary boost.

Charlie Sheen has signed on for two more years of Two and a Half Men.

“To put a fitting end on the two and one-half months of whirlwind speculation, I’m looking forward to returning to my CBS home on Monday nights. I want to thank Les Moonves for his support,” Sheen has said.

This ends speculation Sheen would walk away from the show, a ploy largely dismissed as contract negotiation.

Sheen had reportedly been hedging for $2 million an episode. Warner Bros. initially offered substantially less than half that amount claims TMZ , but the figure has since gone up considerably.

Sheen, who is still facing court action over his December incident with Brooke Mueller, was previously on $900,000 an episode.

CBS is expected to announce the return of the show this week. Nine is rumoured to be popping champers…..

  1. Show is ok… The funniest person is the housekeeper… (a bit like Alice in the Brady Bunch..! )… But 8 suck, thinking they have done anything remotely to do with this show… and please regulate the number of prime time repeats allowed…. !!

  2. Lets try and look surprised after the recent stories he was about to walk away 🙂

So I guess that means 2 more years of endless re-runs with a few new eps thrown in.

    @ JB – ITA

@ Barb L – that’s Courtney Thorne-Smith from Melrose Place and According to Jim.

  3. With all these other shows getting the axe lately 2.5 men should have been one of them! How long can a sitcom go for where a guy beds a bunch of women? seriously..

Either that or replace the prat Sheen who wants $2 million an episode!

  4. As if he was ever going to leave. Not like he’s ever been successful in anything else. Such a terrible show though. Such obvious jokes that all rely on the same premise over and over and over and…

  5. Well I did not expect to ever like this show, but having only discovered it last summer, I have to say i enjoy it. I still think Jon Cryer is the best thing in it – he is one funny and brilliant actor. The kid (now a man – how are they going to address that for 2 more seasons – give him lots of coffee to stunt his growth???) has excellent comic timing and Sheen has his moments. It is ribald, sometimes dirtty and often transparent – but chuckles per half hour – it is better than some! Like an earlier person I too love Melanie Lynskey and Holland Taylor and Conchata Ferrell have some great one liners – it works – and one and a half million aussies enjoy it and millions more around the world.

  6. I don’t mind Nine showing the new ones each Monday but it is a bit much when they are up against Home and Away and 7pm Project to show it five nights a week after A Current Affair with their old reruns. The over reliance of this as their 7pm offering is going to cost them up against fresh new programming over at 7 and 9 in the same timeslot.

  7. Woohooo!! Yeahh!!! Love the show… been hooked since the first episode and never missed a single one. Can’t wait for more… especially if Chelsea isn’t in it… though I do wish there’d be more Rose…

  8. love the last line david, so true

here comes the money! TV is about business people! Its about what the “mainstream” audience want to watch and not what the TV critics want! Taking the latter part will only get you 1 season at most and forever be forgotten

but yes, this season has been hit or miss thus far, not sure what the direction the next 2 seasons should be taking. There is a lot of episodes to cover

  9. What’s funny though is that while i am glad to see it continue, they would want to improve the show above the quality of episode’s we’ve seen throughout the current season. They have had their moments, but many intended jokes missed their mark…. or the overall plot line for the episodes in the current season didn’t lead to many LOL moments.

  10. Two and a Half Men fans and channel Nine executives alike can rest now.

News just in: Nine commits to two more years of Two and a Half Men repeats at 7pm weekdays with bonus adults only eps on Tuesdays.

  11. @ richo – really? i thought S3-S5 were probably the shows peak. S7 has been patchy but still good for a few laughs with the odd classic thrown in. The addition of Chelsea dragged the show down somewhat but it’s picked up recently with her gone.

Can imagine Nine execs are doing the dance of joy right about now.

  12. I’ve recently started liking this show quite a bit, I always didn’t mind it, the only things that turned me off it for a while was Nine’s ridiculous scheduling of it 10 times a week and the overzealous fanboys of the show screaming it to be the greatest comedy of the past 50 years.

I think its actually gotten better the last few seasons while great shows like HIMYM and The Office have lost quality…recently watched a few eps of Modern Family and Its Always Sunny though, both those shows blow the rest out of the water

  13. Any chance of another internal memo from Nine patting themselves on the back for a job well done with this too David?

I dont think this could have been anymore of an obvious ploy… so much for all my prayers to see this end. Two more years… i suppose a name change is in order now too…
