New boss at Prime

Former Nine executive Ian Audsley has been appointed chief executive of Prime Media Group.

Former Nine executive Ian Audsley has been appointed chief executive of Prime Media Group.

Prime executive chairman Paul Ramsay yesterday announced he had been given the top job, following shareholder discontent earlier this year, according to The Australian.

Audsley was most recently executive director of television at MediaWorks NZ, where he axed TV3’s loss-making breakfast show during a six-month stint. He joined Nine in 2003 and had worked his way up to chief operating officer by the time of Kerry Packer’s death.

He helped run a highly unpopular redundancy program during Eddie McGuire’s controversial time as chief executive in 2006.

  1. What could he cut? Easy…

    * The remaining Prime and GWN News bulletins (replaced by updates produced by an external broadcaster – see below)
    * Canberra Production Staff (promos and commercials can be made by external production companies)
    * Presentation, Tapes and Traffic Staff (presentation and traffic can be outsourced to WIN, Southern Cross or Seven)
    * News and Weather Update Presenters/Producers (WIN, Southern Cross or Seven could take over this function)

  2. Ever diminishing circles. Where does he go next? CH31? Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could find a media executive who knew how to grow a business?

  3. the king of redundancies…is he in there now to make aPRIME a leaner machine…they have already started with the recent announcement of moving the Wagga and Orange NEWS bulletins to the Canberra Facility……
