We heart Betty White

Betty White finally gets to host Saturday Night Live this weekend in the US.

TV veteran Betty White finally gets to host Saturday Night Live this weekend in the US (and admits to being dead scared).

Alas it won’t air in Australia for around three months. The Comedy Channel would love to play these episodes sooner but the major delay is the time required for the distributor to work through the music clearances involved.

However she does appear tomorrow night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon at 11.15pm on Comedy.

  1. The only thing that I see the differences in recent times particularly are nbc universal was the distributor now it has been in recent years snl studios.
Second there is an edit in the middle of weekend update don’t know what they are editing out. I can understand that includes possible sketch music cleared for the international viewing before US show time then they are cleared in large chunks before Australia sees it.

  2. What a croc! What musical clearances?

Leno, Letterman etc are all shown same or next day and all have music in them. I really can’t see the difference between what is in SNL and what is in Leno, Letterman etc. I’d say it is a cost decision by the commedy channel. They can probably pay $X to get it next day or a number substantially less than $Y if they can wait 4/5 months. Given we had the SNL christmas episode 2 weeks ago, the gap is closer to 4/5 months, not 3.

  3. I always wondered why it takes so long for Comedy Channel to air new SNL, thanks for clearing it up. Betty White saying holla was all kinds of awesome.
