80 seconds of Pamela’s Cha Cha Cha

That's how long Pamela Anderson danced for on the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars.

Just 80 seconds.

That’s how long Pamela Anderson danced for on last night’s season premiere of Dancing with the Stars.

That’s an awful lot of hype for a short amount of Cha Cha Cha.

Anderson, who had wowed audiences in the US series, was brought to Australia by Seven to help launch the new series. But the network did get more for their money by having her seated throughout the show and giving comments on each of the Aussie contestants.

As she had proven on Big Brother, her personality was a winner. But it was a shame her dance was so brief, and didn’t finish with the splits that she performed in the US.

At 80 seconds, Anderson’s dance was 10 seconds shorter than Stephanie Rice’s hyped 2008 appearance on Make Me a Supermodel.

Finishing with the top score last night was Tamara Jaber and Carmelo Pizzino on 25 points. But last night’s points will bear no weight on the outcome next week, when the audience vote and judge’s score for next week will send someone packing. This puts the scoring on track for the finale episode.

Australia’s Got Talent winners Justice Crew delivered the best routine of the night, proving they are no flash in the pan.

  1. On a much more important note – the shows voice-overs are now being done by Damian Nicholas, who used to do the audience warm-up. Nice gig Damian!

  2. She added nothing. Can’t believe Today Tonight still passes off ads for this show as segments each week. Crap content = crap Channel in viewers minds.

  3. i wonder if she got paid as much or more than she did to do the BB appearance, i can’t remember exactly how much that was, but remember thinking it was pretty excessive, at least it was for more than 80 secs though!

  4. Oh dear, telly is just so tragic in this country……people are so climatised to mediocrity that they actually think some shows are good and even great…… i do not feel smug saying this, i actually feel rather sad.

  5. @ Andrew B:
Of course they were going to do that, televison is a business and putting strategies to make money and win ratings is what it is all about.

  6. And they made sure she was on just as Masterchef finished.

Note also that Esther Anderson then Justice Crew were strategically placed at 7.30 to try and hold off some people swithcing over to Ten.

  7. I keep saying it but this country isn’t big enough to run these type of shows every year but the networks continue to milk them until we hate them and are glad to see them go. If reality tv shows were run every 2nd year big brother and idol would probably still be around. I think DWTS’s is going to bow out soon. I hope 10 learns from these continued reality mistakes and let’s MC take a year off (2012) and makes it seem tastier when it is ressurected.

But a friend of mine was really looking forward to seeing Pammy dance last night, he was mumbling something about her puppies. I flicked over and there were no dogs, so i lost interest, lol !!!

  8. Yes I thought it was a shameless, gratuitous act to have Pammi on the show. There were way too many Barbies in this year’s mix anyway. It was the Logies all over again with importing ‘stars’ to make a splash. Irrespective of that, I found it an enjoyable first night – great to see Melinda Schneider and Jason Stevens on board.

  9. She was there for the entire show, and judged everyones performance in addition to performing. But 2.5 hours of Pam wouldn’t really get your constructed point across would it?
