Live: French Open Women’s Final – Stosur v Schiavone

Nine will show the French Open Women’s Final: Stosur v Schiavone live tomorrow night, preceded by an unaired Celebrity Singing Bee.

Nine will show the French Open Women’s Final: Stosur v Schiavone live from Roland Garros tomorrow night at 10:45pm AEST.

Two years ago Sam Stosur had trouble walking after being struck with Lyme disease, but at the French Open in 2009 she made it through to the Semi-finals. She was defeated, and again in 2010 she made it through to the Semi-finals where she smashed Jelena Jankovic to make it through to the final.

If successful tomorrow she will be the first Australian to win women’s singles crown since Margaret Court in 1973.

To adjust its schedule for the live game Nine will dust off an unaired episode of Celebrity Singing Bee from the shelves and air it at 9:45pm.

Join Tim Campbell as he takes celebrity guests through the lyrics of songs from the Number #1’s with the chance to win up to $50 000 for charity. This week’s celebrity singers are Craig Lowndes, Gyton Grantly, Frankie J Holden, Annalise Braakenseik and Charli Delany.

NB: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane. Adelaide & Perth please check local guides.

Update: FOX Sports will also air live including in 3D on FOX Sports 3D (Channel 200).

  1. Good one Nine. Watching the replay at 3pm on Sunday in Brisbane, and in the first ad break “Heartbreak for Sam Stosur in the French Open final” (I actually knew the result already, but others might be watching it without knowing the result)

  2. Are 9 going to show the Nadal vs Soderling final live? Disgraceful treatment of sport if they don’t. It should be a cracker – can Nadal get revenge for last year?

  3. Miller, read the article again. This is the French Open, not Wimbledon! If she wins, first female aussie to win any grand slam since 1980. I’ll be watching (on Fox Sports which has no ads 🙂 ) hoping the drought will break!

  4. Well done to channel nine for making this change. The French Open has been rather unsuccessful for Aussies of late. Go Sam!!!

On Singing Bee, surely Frankie J Holden should be there at the end given he is a professional singer after all.

  5. There will be probably be a lot of disappointed teenage girls, seeing as The Notebook will now not be seen on Saturday night. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this is the second or third time that Nine has scheduled The Notebook and have put in a last minute replacement.

But, I must say, it is good that Nine are airing this match live. First Australian woman to win Wimbledon since 1973? This is definitely a last minute change that I will forgive.

  6. last time an Australian made it to the final of a grand slam it got over 4million viewers. wonder what this will get? timeslots like that have not stopped events like world cup games and olympic opening cermonies topping 2mil.
