Returning: Top Gear

Nine has new episodes of Top Gear coming this month, as part of Season 15 of the show.

Nine has new episodes of Top Gear coming this month, as part of Season 15 of the show.

Clarkson, Hammond, May and The Stig return for a brand new series of Top Gear. In this first episode, Jeremy asks why there aren’t more three wheeled cars in the world and James gives Top Gear’s favourite warhorse one final assignment as he attempts to drive up an active volcano in Ireland.

I have an uneasy feeling that should be Iceland not Ireland, but that’s what Nine sent through….

To air at 7:30pm on Tuesday July 27, this episode aired in the UK on June 27.

Nine will screen the full 90 minute British edition as well as HD on 9HD.

  1. Yes the international version (which Nine and SBS used to run) was around the 50min mark without ads, Nine stretched it out to around 70mins. SBS kept it within the hour with just 10mins of ads.

Now Nine has the rights to the full UK show, around 60 minutes long. They add 30 minutes of ads (8 to 10 breaks) taking it out to 90min total.

I know it’s commercial TV but I hope at some point they can get a main sponsor and show this on GO! in full with limited ad breaks, say 3x 3min making it just 69 min long, probably wishful thinking on my part…

  2. The full 90 minute British edition is not filled with 30 minutes of add as the actual episode is like 75 minutes or something. Top Gear is actually produces an international version of an hour which channel 9 used to show, where the international doesn’t show all the segments and talk they do. So bring on Top Gear

  3. 30 minutes of adds, well I have no choice but to record it and fast forward the adds. Nine you have killed this show with all the add breaks you run. With PVR’s these days you’re just going to force more and more to do what I do. Watch SBS, they have the mix right, I don’t mind watching adds when they are every 15 to 20 minutes, but every 7 minutes is way, way to often.

  4. Great news about the full version. The Stig was almost non existent for S14 – mostly on the cutting room floor I guess.
As for Ireland / Iceland – I still have a 9 release from a few months ago boasting about ratings for A CurrAnt Affair and The Sarah ConnEr Chronicles. Ah the lost art of proof reading and quality control.

  5. I doubt Nine would be stupid enough to show one new ep then a re-run, there are no more breaks for 10 weeks or so and with just 7 eps in the season it should take them up to the next school break.

  6. I’ve stopped watching this because it’s always repeats. Please keep up the New Episode warnings though, i’ve put it in my diary. Is this going to be the start of the new season or just a 1-off?

  7. Ireland, the island renowned for saints, scholars, guinness, leperachauns….and…….ummm……volcanoes. lmfao.

Does anyone proof-read stuff anymore? 🙂

  8. LOL Nine can’t tell the difference between Ireland and Iceland, classic!

Good to see they have the full 60 min edition, pity it’s a month late and includes 30 mins of ads!
