The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards were dominated by Modern Family, Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Temple Grandin.

The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards opened with an hilarious Glee sketch in which host Jimmy Fallon recruited the kids from the FOX musical, along with Tina Fey, Betty White, Jane Lynch, Randy Jackson, Joel McHale, Jorge Garcia, Jon Hamm and Tim Gunn. Fallon sang “Springsteen’s “Born to Run.

  1. The Pacific was a big disappointment and I know it tanked for Seven ratings wise. It went on 3 episodes longer than necessary and also ignored covering the Battle of Midway. If that was included, 10-12 episodes would’ve been justified.

  2. I agree that the Emmys really shower the same shows and actors with love. Jason Alexander never won an emmy while Michael Richards won 3. Helen Hunt won four for Mad about you – Paul Reiser – zero. Michael C Hall may be destined for lots of nods but no wins. A lot of it comes down to which episodes are submitted – the campaigns are an intense process – some make tactical errors in which eps they include; as it is so subjective as to what is great – but with thesps like Glenn Close, Alec Baldwin and Toni Collette – they are just too compelling to resist.

  3. I will probly watch mad men one day but there is no way it will be better than lost the last season was just awsome and michael emerson shouldve won

  4. @Dave I would agree that the Mad Men actors are too subtle to win the acting awards, but then Archie Panjabi went and won the best supporting actress for a very subtle performance.

  5. Most seemed alright.

It is a shame some shows do win every year to the detriment of other deserving shows, but it doesn’t mean they aren’t good.

@Guy, Matt T ect. No lost didn’t deserve to win, the final season was a complete mess. As someone that loved the show and has seen season 1-5 three times, the final season was a massive let down. About half way through it just went off the rails as came undone. Dropping the ball in the writing department during the final season was a huge let down. Even though the show is incredibly well made, it couldn’t make up for the script and story issues. Yeah lets ditch all the plots for 5 seasons, then ditch the plot of the 6th season half way through and have most characters stand around do nothing for most of the time. Whole Season was a huge disappointment as to how much of a mess it was.

Mad Men is just excellent though.

Would have liked Dexter get more love.

Glad Mordern Family got some love, although I would have preferred Ty Burrell to have one.

Another Emmys, another year It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia gets no love despite being the funniest show on tv.

Jimmy Fallon did a nice job hosting.

Stupid Foxtel losing the record link, so I missed the irst 10 minutes until I came in the room and noticed it wasn’t recording.

  6. good to see breaking bad and mad men pick up major drama ones. dunno where all the Lost support is coming from. its lucky to be nominated against those shows.

  7. TAR’s reign finishes. Idol and Survivor must have been mightily annoyed at having never won. Top Chef – it’s a really lame title and let me guess…it’s the US rip off of Iron Chef? Leave it to the US to remake shows and give them bad titles. Ha.

  8. I watched Temple Grandin a few plus weeks ago on Showcase on Foxtel and enjoyed it immensely, I didn’t realise it was up for all the emmy’s and this movie deserves all the accolade’s . With quality productions such as this you can see why so many actors who we associate with movies are turning to TV for great work.

  9. Mad Men is sh!t. Sorry to all those who thinks its great but its just not. Lost deserved to win. It was robbed!

Glad for Glee, Modern Family and Top Chef, finally knocks off The Amazing Race 🙂

Jane Lynch deserving winner as was The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons. Also i tipped Archie Panjabi to win. Some people thought i was mad.

  10. Sick of Cranston and Mad Men winning, 3 in a row, they are good actor/shows but when shows such as Dexter missing out and Michael C. Hall and Kyle Chandler missing out, looks rather ridculous

  11. Can’t believe Mad Men won again!!! Jeez, i would have prefered just about any other show win in that catagory. What a disappointment. Modern Family win was inevitable. Great to see The Pacific win, and Jim Parsons win made the night I think. About time he won!

  12. Note that The Special Relationship was made as a telemovie and broadcast on HBO in May. It will be shown on BBC Two in September (BBC Films was a co-production partner). It was released theatrically in Australia by Roadshow Films and is still screening.

  13. like Drew Barrymore last year – Claire Danes finally rewarded for being a really fine actor. My tip Al Pacino gets one to match Angels in America. Susan Sarandon missed out unfortunately

  14. No win for Sir Patrick Stewart – still can’t work out how David Tennant didn’t get nominated for his work in Hamlet – he was amazing!! Shame we only got to see is on DVD be nice if someone actually put it on TV!!!

  15. I’m with Dave (below). Some surprise wins there and nice surprises – great to see wins to Parsons and Panjabi (The Good Wife). I dont’ watch either show religiously but when I have tuned in both of them have impressed.
