US character actor Glenn Shadix, best known in television as Seinfeld‘s landlord, has died aged 58.
Shadix, born William G. Scott, worked in a number of Tim Burton films, including his role as a portly, pretentious designer in Beetlejuice, plus Planet of the Apes and voice work in The Nightmare Before Christmas.
With more than 30 credits to his name, his television roles included Jerry Seinfeld’s landlord on Seinfeld, plus a recurring role in the HBO drama Carnivàle, and guest appearances on shows such as ER, Providence and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
A cause of death was not immediately known, but his sister told media that he had been using a wheelchair for mobility and appeared to have fallen in his kitchen and struck his head.
His website also describes him as a photographer and gay rights activist.

sad to hear, I remember him as the Priest in Heathers
Oh wow. I only remember him from Beetlejuice, but always sad to say goodbye.
Brilliant character actor. He was especially funny as a southern fried neighbour in Meet the Applegates. RIP.
Beetlejuice.What a classic.
Sad news – he’s had great contributions to a myriad of film and tv shows I’ve grown up with – always an unusual character played well…
RIP Glenn.
how sad. 🙁
My deepest condolences to his family & friends & fans.
