Keeping up Appearances, Are you Being Served?, The Good Life, To the Manor Born are amongst classic titles acquired by 7TWO.

Seven has picked up a number of classic titles from BBC Worldwide to air on 7TWO.

They include comedy, drama, food and lifestyle titles, including Keeping up Appearances, Are you Being Served?, The Good Life, To the Manor Born, Jonathan Creek, All Creatures Great and Small, Born and Bred, Bargain Hunt, The Hairy Bikers Cookbook and James Martin’s Favourite Feasts.

“This will further strengthen 7TWO’s position in the digital channel market into 2011 and beyond as we continue to fine-tune the programming with a consistent line-up of lifestyle, classic British comedy, quality British drama and highly acclaimed feature films,” said Seven & 7TWO Programming Consultant John Stephens.

  1. As i have said a few times in the past, the digital channels are just bonus channels and that’s all.New Series of shows that never rated on the Primary Channel appear on digital as well as old shows from long ago as mentioned above

  2. Hopefully they’ll keep showing Martha. Even though its a couple of years old its good to see them if you haven’t seen it before on Foxtel.

I don’t mind some programs on 7TWO the Friday night line up is good. Though they’ve started to repeat How Not to Decorate and that’s already 4-6 years old. Its a pity they can’t buy any more episodes.

It would be good if 7TWO could repeat some of its weekday shows on the weekends for those who may of missed it during the week.

I have to admit I haven’t watched much of 7mate.

  3. More rehashed tv. I guess theres nothing better to view, besides dont you like it when they televise these shows on their HD channel where clearly these shows are Not HD !!!!

  4. I think that 7Two is just cementing it’s target. Unlike Go, 7mate, and Gem, it didn’t start off with a clear ‘target market’, it was just another ‘general entertainment’ channel. I think what we are seeing here is a channel aimed at the older age groups (50+), and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Think of it from channel 7’s perspective, they already have a ‘general entertainment’ channel (7), and now they have a ‘young male’ channel (7mate), the only way to segment the channels, and not cannibalise them, is to target 7Two to an audience not catered to already – the over 50’s.

  5. Yes yes yes yes yes- Give me Keeping Up Appearances and Are You Being Served? over American tripe any day of the week.

It rates, they are obviously making money so go with it I say.

  6. I actually think that 7TWO is starting to become more targeted it has has no direction since its launch but lately it is starting to definately settle in with some targetted scheduling.

Do I like the target – not really – but it is nice to have a variety of choice on the box; 7Mate can probably air most of the US shows that were airing on 7TWO as most of them were more male skewed anyway.

I would prefer they market the channels as 7, 7UK and 7USA (HD)

  7. Seven shareholders will be happy.
The digital channels are fast becoming filled with nothing but repeats. It’s about time they are forced to make a minimum of new content.

  8. so 7TWO will pretty much be an british old persons skewing channel.
so disappointing, considering how promising and great it was upon launch.
even though GO keeps shifting programs, at least its trying to bring in new shows and keep its youth focus.
i hope 7mate keeps its great line up.

  9. It’s official. 7TWO has done a 180 degree turn from what it launched as.
Gone are Scrubs, Gladiators, Heroes, Jay Leno and Stargate…..
Hello George & Mildred, Are you Being Served and The Good Life.
Shame really, but I guess they feel this compliments rather than competes with Seven and 7mate.
7TWO is now an unrecognisable network.
They need to re-brand with a clear identity and tag line.

    7TWO: Classic TV. Unleashed.
    7TWO: Classics live here.

  10. The first 3 titles used to air on Seven anyway didn’t they ?

A couple of those titles used to air on abc 1.

Remember when 7 two started we had a bit of everything from wrestling to Ugly Betty etc.

  11. 7TWO seems like a good home for these kinds of shows. Well, ABC is a better home, but I’m happy to see ABC invest in newer content and leave the old reruns to a commercial digital channel.
