Minor spoilers: What’s this? A few bags and cars lined up outside the MCG?
Anyone would think The Amazing Race Australia was filming….
Nah…. must be a coincidence.
And is that only seven bags we spy?
Updated: Clearly more than seven teams inside the MCG….

I expect the Start was the Melbourne MCG and the finish is likely to be the Sydney Opera House… looking forward to this.
So excited…..but crushed I didn’t get an audition. 🙁
i was wondering why half a dozen choppers were flying around melbourne…
Melbourne is finally on The Amazing Race map (albeit for the local version)! Hope the series goes well.
Seven would actually be laughing atm. Reason being is the very strong Aussie $$$ won’t cost them as much as they thought. Obviously this is the start leg of the race imo. Either that or they are practising. Seems strange to see 7 clue boxes in one place.
I can’t wait for this and i have a sneaking suspicion that Phil will be the host.
I hope this is a success! Totes wanted to apply but missed out!
curious that 7 seem to be filming Australias got talent and The Amazing Race at the moment so will probably start in feb but no word on My Kitchen Rules?? surely it has not been pushed later into the year against masterchef?
Paul, does it really matter where they take off from? If done well, this should be a hit for seven.
Looks certain to be 11 teams.
I saw 12 bags there this morning. Ans I was one of those people moved away and I did not have a camera.
iv just seen some pictures from twitter of The Amazing Race at the MCG, and not to spoil anything but there are 11 teams.. 🙂
Thanks David- glad its international.
Yeah I have also been hearing that there are heaps of teams at Melbourne Airport boarding an international JetStar flight and that there were 12 bags.
Very exciting. I think Seven definitely will have success with this one in, i’m guessing, Feb.
If you look hard there is at least one more of the same type of car behind the far right one, meaning at least 8 cars in shot. Teams spotted international terminal. One cowboy hat all male team, one middle-age couple team so far.
Finally! good to hear them taking off from Melbourne, not Sydney and we should hear who is the host tomorrow, hopefully not Ben Cousins.
Way cool!
Although, I guess that means that none of my friends who applied were successful since none of them have suddenly departed for unspecified reasons for an unspecified period of time. I guess they didn’t fit any of the classic Amazing Race team classifications/categories like “Ivy League Capella Singers”.
I’ve been told 12 bags were spotted. There are pix on Twitter of teams arriving at Melb airport.
Since it would seem only 7 teams left, can we assume that it is not an international race but a race around australia (and probably off to New Zealand). HAve to say will be a little disappointed if that is the case.
Obviously the pic is speculative…. but it’s nice to see some enthusiasm for the show. Think Seven is on a winner here if it’s well made.
The race is international.
Squeeeeeeeee!! how exciting!! 😀
Adam might be right. Why would there only be 7 teams?
I’ve done some working out. If I’m correct, there will be nine weeks of ratings survey next year before Easter non-ratings period starts. Now, if you include the week before ratings begin (which is the week after the tennis and the week that Seven start all their big shows) this would make ten weeks and therefore ten episodes. To have three teams race in the final leg in Week 10, they would have to start with twelve teams. My prediction: ten teams with two non-elimination legs.
Great… the race starts at the MCG… would this men Ben Cousins is host?
Expect a host announcement tomorrow in the press.
Also filming in South Melb / Albert Park this arvo.
Maybe its a leg and this is just for the last 7 people…. prob the drop off point for thier bags while they are going a challenge in the G. Something we dont see on TV…
They grab thier bags after the challenge and drive away.
australia is cheap. can only pay for 7 teams!!! Lol.
only 7 teams as can only see 7 bags?
7 Unattended bags outside the MCG, quick someone call the cops, could be a terrorist threat : o
Any idea when it gets shown on our screens?
I work accross the road from The G and it’s been very exciting. There were Helicopters going over and 7 crew rushing people away, espcially anyone with a camera.
