Grant Bowler to host Amazing Race Australia

Minor spoilers: Former host of The Mole wins the hosting role on the local version of a favourite Reality series.

Minor Spoilers: Grant Bowler will host The Amazing Race Australia.

As tipped, the host was announced today following the beginning of filming in Melbourne yesterday.

The former Mole host and actor was one name rumoured to be in line for the role. US host Phil Keoghan was the hot favourite.

“I was a bit burned out recently and doing something like The Amazing Race breaks things up for me,” Bowler said.

“It’s such an exciting show to be part of.”

The Aussie teams are already overseas, rumoured to now be in Bali.

“This is such a big show. No one’s been more surprised than me that I’ve been asked to do these hosting jobs,” said Bowler.

“But I love it. It’s human psychology at work.”

Bowler should prove a winner for this one. Be careful what you take through customs guys!

  1. $1000 dollar bet. Major locations on the Aust version…lol, they will be traveling to far flung locations like, New Zealand, Bali, Hamilton Island then go reeeaaallly international with Vietnam, Indo etc etc then i guarantee will finish in Japan (most they can afford).

Will be, just like all Aust productions of expensive international shows, a cheap nasty version. US AM is global, around the World, Europe, Middle East, Asia, USA..Australian vers will be, well, Australia (Perth or NT), Bali, New Caledonia, Tasmania, lol…If you guys are not prepared to spend the cash then dont be surprised if the gets half the ratings of the US version. People know when they are being conned and being served a budget version of an international show. Just look at Aust top gear, cheap and nasty and does not rate.

Either spend the millions or just don’t bother. Not a race around the world, will be a race around our part of the southern hemisphere and thats about it. I.e. sad, pathetic Kmart version of a great, expensive program. “This week, we travel to Dapto, who will get there first”..next week “watch our “global” travelers reach Bali”..lol. tragic. If it’s cheap, watch it tank.

  2. That’s excellent news! He was a great host for the mole, and an excellent narrator for 7’s factuals.

I’m just so relieved that Tom Williams is not the host, his voice can be extremely irritating, particularly when listening to ‘and over on 7two’.

  3. This is good news. It will definatley make me more inclined to watch the show when it airs. And thank heavens Channel Seven didn’t choose someone more obvious, like Grant Denyer or Luke Jacobs, and instead went with someone who will suit the format much better, and give the show a much more mature vibe.

Reminds me how great The Mole was…

  4. If it wasn’t Phil then this is the perfect 2nd choice. Grant will do the job right. Compared to all those other names Seven has actually done something right for a change.

I still have a feeling we will see Phil on one of the legs.

  5. Yes!! I knew it from day one that he would host!! In really excited because he did a great job on the mole.. He is perfect for the amazing race.. Thank goodness it is not someone like Ben cousins.. I would have never watched if he was host.. Yay!! 😀

  6. Was he a hot favourite at all??

Regardless I didn’t know he was in contention and didn’t even consider him but aside from Phil hosting I think this Grant is the absolute best for this job!

    I love this idea!!

  7. Yep. I was 99% sure it was Grant. I think he’ll do a good job. The 1% was hoping it would be Phil, but we’ll make do. Hope it lasts longer than the Aussie Survivor. That was terrible.
