Fringe told to GO!

Nervous nellies at Nine continue their on-again, off-again antics with schedules over summer. This time it's Fringe's turn.

Nervous nellies at Nine continue their on-again, off-again antics with schedules over summer.

Now Fringe is out tomorrow night, to be replaced by -yep, you guessed it- The Big Bang Theory repeats.

This halts the third season at 5 episodes on GO!

Next week Batman: The Movie is in the 8:30 timeslot.

  1. Well this doesn’t surprise me another terrible move from Nine. I give up nine i’m just going to watch all the shows from Nine/GO/Gem when they come out on DVD/Blu-ray so i can watch them uninterrupted they ditched Nikita after 5 episodes that i was enjoying and also V Season 2 has been scheduled to premiere on GO! 8.30 Wednesday January 21st which i will be watching because i enjoyed the first season but if they take it off after 5 episodes I’m just going give up watching Nine/GO/Gem permanently and i don’t care if they bring it back or they screen any new show I’m interested in i’m just going to go straight to the DVD/Blu-ray anyway i say bring on Eleven!!!

  2. What? What? Why? They were behind the US, I thought.. not up to date like they are with The Vampire Diaries and now they take it off? Oh man.. I thought you were better than this GO!

  3. I’d like to think that Eleven would be a great quality tv station, but I fear that it will only cause more upsets- more competition means more chopping and changing in order to achieve the highest “viewers” share, because viewers= dollars.

This is why I have an enormous amount of respect for Ten keeping OneHD- the only decent HD channel that’s left- and im not even much of a sports fan, but I’ll watch it for its stable programme guide and proportion of HD content, HD shows don’t seem to exist on 7hate or LEM(on).

I am strongly considering deleting GO! off my tv, there’s just no content on there that’s worth watching- and anything that is worth watching is either pulled off after a couple of weeks, or sent into constant repeat-mode.

  4. I’d like to note there were no comments shown when I wrote my replies. Thank you Vinny for confirming my suspicions about them avoiding skips. I’ll admit I like that idea as while it is one of my favourite shows I can wait a little while for it if it does pay off. And I think playing them straight would be worth it. I look forward to the show reappearing.

  5. WTF are they doing at 9?
First they drop R&I and bump Southland, 2 great new shows, now Fringe is pulled.

The US is a couple of weeks ahead so no excuses for not showing Fringe.
Not all of us go away at xmas, or want to watch tired xmas movies and repeats.
I want choices, which I thought was the whole point of the new channels, my mistake!

  6. Just play it already you continuous schedule changing idiots. Get with the program. I don’t watch you anymore because you don’t know how to stick to a schedule. Go and jump. I hope Eleven takes viewers away from them because its the joke channel of 2010.

The continuous changes are ridiculous and not needed. The channel is doing well so just let us have the shows instead of umpteenth repeats of Big Bang, Seinfeld and Top Gear. Oh wait you can’t can you.

  7. Bastards. You try and do the right thing and hold off obtaining it elsewhere even tho’ it was nowhere near fast-tracked despite Nine advertising it as such, and then they stick it to the loyal viewers anyway. Bastards.

They’re prob just mirroring the gap in the US schedule (off until 21 Jan) but they’ve got 4 eps in hand. They could have shown ep 6 this week, broken for Xmas-NY, and then played out the other 3 to bring us up to being a very acceptable one week behind.

This “non-ratings” period is bullsh!t. Of course the commercial networks still want to sell air time to advertisers and, of course the advertisers want to know what value they’re getting. The only way to determine how many might see your ad is…?

  8. I’ve been watching this from the start, but to be honest, it’s getting a little boring. The whole ‘2 worlds’ thing is just rubbish. It’s almost become a soap opera. I’ll probably still watch it if it ever comes back, but I won’t lose any sleep if it doesn’t.

  9. I forgot to say those skips will be after it starts up again for the Americans in January (so after the 21st) if I worked it out correctly. I could be wrong as I didn’t write it down. I hope not and think not. But if someone knows something better please tell us.

  10. If I’ve worked out the US schedule (with help) there will probably be 4 or, at worst, 5 skips. Since they have 4 episodes to show in Australia. I hope that just means when they start it again next year they can cover those so there are no skips in the Australian schedule or one or two at the very worst. Either that or they could start early with either January 12 or 19 (I think; if they are wrong then those weeks at least). If that’s the case I could live with it. As I’d really love it if it started early next year. I’ll note it’s supposed to start up again on Friday 21st January for those in the United States. So please start it earlier here. I love that idea. If not then I won’t be happy I’ll admit.

  11. Don’t you do your research David? These shows are off so that Go can have an uninterrupted run from January rather than have heaps of random pauses when the US goes on breaks.

    1. Jimbob: Nine has aired 5 eps of Fringe. 4 more have already aired in the US. I have always noted there is a downside to fastracking, but this doesn’t get around the point that the show was scheduled and has been pulled. But I don’t make a habit of ringing up a network to say “why have you taken this off… oh ok in that case it’s fair enough, I won’t tell everybody where their show disappeared to….”

  12. David, the response on Facebook is

“Fringe is back after the break in the USA and should run straight through as a number of breaks are scheduled overseas. It’s better this way! We promise as there are some wicked storylines coming up that would be too cruel to break up!”

  13. No, no No! Those idiots! This is the only consistent show I have watched on GO since its launch! Now what am I meant to do? If Fringe gets the boot on a multi-channel during summer ratings, what chance does it have ever airing again!

In payback I’m switching back to 7news at 6, yes I know it won’t make a scrap of difference but I personally don’t think I can stay with a network that doesn’t stay with its viewers.

  14. I doubt any one who’s actually a fan of the show will be effected by this … just another log on the “why australians ‘pirate’ the most television” fire
