Jim Waley on path to recovery

Veteran News Presenter Jim Waley has received good news as he continues his recovery from cancer.

Veteran News Presenter Jim Waley has spoken about making a recovery from his resurgent cancer.

The SKY News man, 62, has confirmed, for the first time, that the cancer that started as a basal cell carcinoma was not in evidence in an MRI this week.

While there are still challenges ahead, he is determined to overcome them.

“I have had major surgery, two lots this last time, but five lots in all, on a tumour in my left ear. I still have a few challenges ahead of me but, at this stage, haven’t ruled out a return to the media and SKY down the track,” he told News Limited.

Waley has lost some hearing and some weight but remains optimistic.

“I have just a couple of issues left to deal with relating to surgery and my recuperation but I am champing at the bit to get back to work, although what form that takes is yet to be determined.”

Waley suffered a basal cell carcinoma in 2003 which recurred mid year and led to time off from his SKY News commitments.

Channel execs have indicated their desire to see him resume once he is well enough.
