In only its second week on air viewers are abandoning Shane Warne’s new talk show, Warnie.

Last night the show scored a dismal 486,000 viewers thumped by Rush on 936,000 and Rake on 759,000. Seven’s Meet the Parents movie scored 673,000.

Despite its earlier timeslot last night, the Nine show show fared much better when it debuted after The Block finale. Its lead in last night was 672,000 for a Top Gear repeat.

Reviews for the first show were mixed, but after last night’s outing it looks like a viewers prefer the cricketer to stick to sports commentary.

Seven Network won the night.

  1. Hey Hey rates a whole lot better than this garbage. I only wanted to watch last weeks episode where James Packer was interviewed, it wasn’t even a good interview and Packer wasn’t saying anything much (although I did appreciate the little gems which he said about his father, that was nice).

  2. Shane was and is a one-trick pony, this is the guy that admitted years ago he knew nothing about any subject except cricket (he never did get a clue about txting now did he?), and wasn’t interested in anything else either. Great choice for a talk show host!

Sorry mate, but once you stopped playing cricket you lost all interest for us.

  3. I didnt watch it last week. Is his show done live? Its just I watched a few moments and Shane when speaking just kept making mistakes and correcting himself. The Glen Robbins interview wasnt that bad. But I turned off after that.

He really is no Andrew Denton or Parky. But I guess thats why it on in the non ratings period.

  4. I made myself watch about 10 minutes of the program and watched it die a thousand deaths. The co-hosts and Mark Webber looked just plain embarrassed to be there.

  5. I forgot it was on, to be honest. Obviously, though, the show is a flop. Luckily, there are only five episodes of it, so it will be over in a few weeks. Unsustainable numbers, judging by last night’s outing.

  6. I loved the point where he asked Mark Webber for short answers and when he asked about ‘distractions’ and Mark Webber then asked what he meant Warnie said he didn’t know! Obviously he doesn’t ask his own questions or talk about them with producers before he does the show! Hilarious!

  7. Here’s a note to any TV execs – stop using your outdated, aged and stable ‘talent’ and find yourself some new talent to do these sort of jobs. The reason people are tuning out is because it isn’t fresh, it’s the same old same-old.

  8. Is anyone really surprised?? Anybody with a brain would’ve known this tool would be a flop on TV. I don’t know why they keep shoving him down our throats, it seems TV execs love him but the general public don’t. Goes to show how out of touch they are with the viewers!! all we want is good quality TV, it seems it’s too much to ask.
