TEN has announced it will begin replaying 6PM with George Negus in late nights from Monday.
The show will now air at 10:30pm in a bid to gain some extra viewers. TEN did this for The 7PM Project in summer 2010.
TEN Late News with Sports Tonight will air from 11pm.
The Negus replay will be adjusted to 10:40 on Tuesdays & 11:30pm on Fridays following Outrageous Fortune.

Ten, please air George at 6.30 pm to give thousands upon thousands relief from ACA and Today Tonight. As I am longtime viewer of Ten’s Late Night News, any move away from the conistent 10.30 slot will make tune to ABC’s Lateline.
Sounds like Bruce Gordon’s 13% is running the show now? WIN owned stations love re-heating their local weekday bulletins after midnight.
Me? I’ll keep watching the more in-depth Lateline on ABC1, thanks all the same.
@ Matt J & Jayden,
David Letterman is a Late Show. In the US (it’s home country) it doesn’t get aired until 11:35pm in most markets. With the addition of George Negus we will see it around the same time of night as they do in the US.
Plus it also now means that Ten/Eleven don’t has cross over between the end of Craig Ferguson & the start of David Letterman.
Excellent idea — and the perfect lead in to David Letterman, very similar to the programming situation he has in the US — but yes, way too late at night for both.
Network 10 would be wise to promote this double as part of their regular nighttime lineup.
Great news for me as I’ve always wanted to watch it but am still working at 6PM
Why bother it’s utter Crap.
Although the obvious option to avoid a clash would be to put Negus after Sports Tonight and the Ten Late News. Sorry Letterman fans.
@Ruddeger – I don’t watch anything at 6pm but I would give this a look later in the evening.
sorry 4.5 hour old news
@ Mac & David Knox
3 hour old news airs all the time in WA. (Sunrise, Today, Morning News, Late News, ACA, 730 report)
Also in the Pacific time zone in the US (about 100 million people)
So 5.5 hour old news is not that different to 3 hour old news.
Pushing Letterman back Again! At least Craig Ferguson is on the same time every night on 11!
So Ten now have a two and a half hour news block in the early evening and another one and a half hours of news in the late evening. I suppose that saves on having to purchase or (is it even conceivable) making more Australian drama and comedy content.
Doesn’t this run the risk of the stories aired being out of date. by the time 10:30 comes round.
Mac: Certainly those headlines at the top of the show could be dated yes. They will also have to be careful about use of any “Live” supers.
And letterman gets put on even later!!!
I’m usually watching Lateline so bad move. Maybe the non-ABC viewers might like it. Of course to not upset the Letterman viewers and to avoid a clash they could of put it after him (unless they put him on 1am or some other ludicrous time). Oh well.
i’m also not home at 6pm, so at 10.30, i might tune in to see it sometimes,
Ten execs reading this: Please move Negas to after the late night news. I don’t want to see a 5½ hour old (QLD) show before seeing up to date news. More importantly, I don’t want to see Negus twice in the same night, and 11pm is too late for me to stay up and watch the start of the news.
Thanks.
Ah, but this is the risk – “Now I don’t have to watch George at 6pm as I can catch him later”.
I think this is a good idea. It obviously worked for 7PM, and I do think it will work for this. Personally, this means I will be able to catch it more often as I often miss it at 6PM.
Only negative is it means Letterman gets pushed further back…
Nobody watches it a 6pm,so what makes Ten think people will watch it at 10.30pm ?
Just axe it
Great! Even more news in their schedule. It should be after the late news, not before it.
excellent – I’m usually not able to watch at 6pm, so it will be good to be able to check this show out.
I think the only upside to this is it will push back Letterman so I can watch/record Ferguson on ch11 at 10:30 then record Letterman later. Still wish they would show Letterman after Ferguson on ch11 to avoid any conflicts.
Not sure about this plan.
Ten need to fix their marketing and positioning about what this show is meant to be.
They need bigger more exclusive stories! and stories that matter to aussies!
