Bumped: Smallville

On the same day that the Ten board removes its CEO an amendment indicates change at ELEVEN.

Is there anything to read into this? On the same day that the Ten board removes Grant Blackley as CEO an amendment indicates change at ELEVEN….

From this Sunday night Smallville will now air at 10:30 and 11:30pm.

ELEVEN has slated a movie You, Me And Dupree to air at 8:30pm.

Angel is now out.

  1. I’m glad they moved it. I think it would of rated better if it wasn’t on Sunday in the first place. Or the weekend. I guess they had to find out the hard way. Now I have to catch up on DVD, I guess, as I could probably watch it. And I do want to see it on Eleven. Especially the promos. I hope they do manage to play all episodes.

As for ST:TNG I hope they play it fully. And definitely don’t put it on the weekend especially Sunday. Too bad they didn’t have Smallville on Thursday in the first place. Also have what’s on Thursday on Friday (SGU & ST:TNG ) as well as what’s on Friday be what’s on Sunday. Although I guess they could swap Friday and Sunday still. Don’t know if it’s too late. I wonder if they played from the start of Season 8 again (Smallville ) on Friday and if it worked out that it might move permanently there until the end. I realise it’s probably too late.

  2. @RichoTB – not sure why you thought you had to spit venom at Smallville so you could use it in some way to prop up Supernatural. Pretty sure both shows had been looked at as somewhat of a double team in the US, and for the length of time Smallville has survived (10 years) is quite good and something that many shows could only wish for.
Speaking in Australian terms though, I think it is easier for shows on weeknights compared to Sunday which Smallville is airing currently and the fact it had been away for several years hasn’t really helped things.
Still have to be glad it is still on – just a shame about the time! Many are either going to now miss out or just end up not getting much sleep due to school/work, so hopefully it can find a more appropriate slot in the future.

  3. This is very disappointing. Smallville had a terrific timeslot and I was being drawn each week, after years of not watching it. I’m losing faith in Ten/Eleven this year.

  4. Budget cuts have killed smallville. This has resulted in low ratings, hence it being canceled in the US this year (still, it made it to 10 seasons) I mean I’m a big smallville fan, but the last few seasons are forgettable due to large actor salaries replacing good writing, special effects and location shoots (it’s all filmed in the studio now, poor effort). I mean there’s only so many times you can use the same establishment shot from 4 years ago. Don’t blame ten, blame the CW in the US.

  5. Not a big surprise here…its a pretty awful show anyway and has been for the past eight years. Characters walking in tiny circles, never growing, never developing…a friend of Clark’s gets knocked out, he has to go and save them while trying to keep his identity a secret. Yawn.

84,000 viewers is horrific for a primetime show, even on a digital channel. Supernatural got more than twice than audience on Monday night – and for good reason. It is a far superior series

  6. Oh really? Smallville was the only primetime show i watched on 11, after they got rid of 90210. I have seasons 1 to 7 on dvd, looks like I’ll have to buy the rest as well. Useless bloody digital channels….

  7. Im real surprised they haven’t dumped Star Trek yet, Smallville should take its place.

you know what 11? instead of putting a replayed movie on, how about all those shows you promised ages ago. like Dollhouse and Sons Of Anarchy? thats TV for ya, if something doesn’t rate the solution is movies. Im surprised movies rate at all, I would much prefer to watch a DVD with no watermark, no ads, unedited and in its proper aspect ratio!!

how about digging up some real old movies to play instead of something from 2006, like 80’s and 90’s movies. like Paramount ones from other channels, 11 and 10 have the rights to Beverly Hills Cop 1-3 now, start with those!

  8. No comment… okay just this, here we go again.

Move new run shows to replace them with movies most viewers have seen and don’t want to see but they know it will rate. Or at least they hope it will.

  9. Vampire Diairies hasn’t gone, there is just a break in the US around March, like there was last year. It will return.

All GO have done is remove their ridiculous 7.30 Monday movie and re-arrange the night.

  10. Wasn;t Ch 10’s purpose of Ch 11 is screen all the shows that they’d mistreated on Ch 10 & screen in thier entirity?

Putting an overseen movie @ 8.30pm & bumping “Smallville” to the graveyard shift isn’t gonna work.

First “90210 v2” & now “Smallville”, which show will be next.

I’m glad that I already own the “Smallville” 8 & 9 dvds boxsets, & also up to date with legal downloads of s10.

  11. this does make it a bit easier on my PVR, but I still want the shows to stay on the air and moves like this make me worry that they will be gone completely, (I will be pi**ed if vampire diaries is fully gone Jeff) but I choose smallville over the middle easily and so eleven was the winner in my PVR conflict.

  12. Not surprising. They dumped the morning repeats of Craig Ferguson — heavily pimped within the first five minutes of Eleven’s launch — within three days.

  13. Another change from Ten. They’re patient in local content building an audience (eg The 7pm Project) but when it comes to international shows their patience quickly runs out. They better not move Craig Ferguson! First, Nine axed Ben Elton and now yet another amendment from Ten, Seven must be lovin’ this!

  14. Oh man… well at least it is still there. 11 is only good for Neighbours and Smallville for me. Just keep Smallville on 11! We need to catch up and not be left further behind.

Still have to wonder who treats their programs best out of GO! and 11. GO! does sometimes take them off for whatever reason but they do seem to return shortly after.

  15. I saw this coming considering the low ratings.

If they’re moving to Smallville to 10.30, I would have thought cutting back to one episode (followed by one ep of Angel) would have made more sense than continuing with two.
