Nine’s Two and a Half Men slot under “constant review”

Last month TV Tonight asked Nine programmer Michael Healy about the future of Two and a Half Men reruns in the 7pm timeslot.

Last month TV Tonight asked Nine programmer Michael Healy about the future of Two and a Half Men reruns in the 7pm timeslot.

The question was raised at a time when Charlie Sheen’s latest meltdown required rehabilitation.

Healy said the timeslot was under “constant review.”

After the more recent fallout, and the show landing fourth in its timeslot on Thursday, that’s likely to be under closer scrutiny.

But if Nine did move Men it could opt to run its other favourite sitcom The Big Bang Theory in the timeslot, keeping a comedy and minimising any significant upheaval to the slot.

Meanwhile, Sheen reportedly won’t get paid for axed episodes.

Sources say he will not receive his estimated $1.2 million per-episode salary for the remaining episodes that CBS had commissioned from Warner Bros. There were originally eight episodes left in the season, but CBS reduced the order after the show went on a production hiatus.

It’s unclear if the cast and crew will receive some payment for the loss of work.

UPDATED: Nine begins The Big Bang Theory in the 7PM slot from Monday.

  1. I agree with the whole bring back Temptation idea and think it would do well.

They can keep the other American Sitcoms for the few months the quiz is off the air.But ratings season should be devoted to the quiz.

How about an all new Price is Right? That would do rather well too

  2. I agree with the Temptation idea, that would be sweet. The old days of Sale Of The Century with Tony Barber and then Temptation were great shows. These shows made people use there brain and was fun at home answering questions unlike the ones today , A B C D , lock it in , are you sure , Der , dont dumb me down channel 9.

  3. Two and A Half Men repeats should move to Go and air at 7pm weeknights instead of AFHV daily while 9 should return Temptation or another games show except Hot Seat which is best to stay where it is. A news program would not be wise due to ABC News and 7pm Project being on at the same time. Big Bang Theory may be alright but the network needs something new and fresh for that time.

  4. Yes, how about a 30 minute news bulletin to fill the hole. Filling schedule holes with another news bulletin is what the commercial networks seem to do alot of thesedays. If Nine does fill the 7pm slot with a news bulletin, I wonder if they would call it Nightline, seems familiar?

  5. The Big Bang Theory would be good at 7pm weeknights. Now that Charlie Sheen has lost the plot with producers of “Two & A Half Men”. It’s looking like Two & Half Men has finally run it’s race

  6. I think channel 9 should bring back Temptation, Bert’s Family Feud or even The Price is Right!!! at 7pm, or what about even put Friends on at 7pm that would be Cool!!!!! I reckon all of them are Good ideas!!!

  7. Run 2.5_Men_Constant_Review

If Weekday_7pm$ = “Two and a Half Men” Goto Sleep
Else Replace Weekday_7pm$ With “Two and a Half Men”

    :Sleep

    :End

  8. I knew this day would come, I just never expected it to take this long. Nine are stuck somewhere deep in shite creek. Their entire schedule relies on 2.5 Men, they simply do not have the content to replace it. I honestly do not think there are enough Big Bang episodes to strip week nights, especially when it aleady litters the GO! schedule.

  9. @Craig

Season 17 Ep15 – Homer Simpson, This Is Your Wife

    Quote
Homer: (watching Lenny’s TV) So highly defined…You can see the soulless quality in that shark’s eyes…(Switches channels) Hey! Two and a Half Men! You can see the soulless quality in Charlie Sheen’s eyes…

  10. Screw Charlie, I feel sorry for the lesser paid cast/crew that need the 8 weeks work to get by, I hope the studio helps them with other work.

I hope they ‘rest’ the show on Nine/GO!, maybe have re-runs once a week or something.

Wonder how Joh Cryer found out the news, TMZ?

BTW which Simpson ep was that cap used for the picture from?
