In next week’s Mythbusters, Adam and Jamie tackle a request from US President (and Mythbusters fan) Barack Obama, who challenges the team to revisit the Archimedes’ Solar Ray (Ancient Death Ray) myth.

This myth suggests that up to 500 people with mirrors can focus the sun’s light enough to set a wooden ship ablaze. The myth has been busted before on the show, though not on the scale that the boys are going to attempt this time around. The President asks them to give it one more shot and report back to him.

Also, a myth based on a scene from the film Hellboy is tested to see whether it is possible to make a moving SUV flip end-over-end by punching down on the hood. Tory, Grant and Kari take on this challenge and line up a number of SUVs and, using a giant fist built from a steel cylinder, subject their hoods to extreme amounts of force in an attempt to see if this scene was realistic.

It airs 7:30pm Monday March 28 on SBS ONE.

  1. i dont know if anyone else has noticed, but the latest mythbuster episodes are starting to be ‘specials’ of behind the scenes or viewer favourites and revisiting busted myths. It seems like the show is starting to lose steam which is a downer.
