Pay TV ratings: Week 11

Aside from sport there were big figures for both Paul Murray and Saturday Agenda in Week 11.

Aside from sport there were big figures for both Paul Murray and Saturday Agenda, no doubt driven by interest in the Japanese earthquake.

ASTRA Week 11

Week 11

  1. The kids channels seem to do pretty well each week. And for a lot of “repeats” like Law & Order, Family Guy, Glee etc they seem to be doing greatly also.

  2. In relation to Prisoner I believe 111HITS are doing themselves a disservice. Five hours of television a week even with encore screenings is a big committment in today’s day and age. I much preferred back in the early days of Foxtel when UKTV showed Prisoner twice a week. I watched the first episode for the nostalgia but I don’t have the time to watch five nights a week.

  3. @ Ben H – I’m glad I’m the only one who thinks Fitzsimmons is a tool, its not even really his arguments so much as his offputting rudeness and propensity to talk over everyone else

  4. I’ve noticed when watching the Colbert Report that the Comedy Channel has been premiering a lot of new Australian content such as You’ve Been Watching and Balls of Steel Australia. Comedy is easily my favourite channel.

  5. Paul Murray Live-ish and The Contrarians weren’t on on Friday night because of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami coverage which Sky News ran non-stop from 5pm for the rest of the night.

  6. Glad to see Paul Murray Live doing well. I may not always agree with his views, but he is just such a likeable guy. That said, I am getting fed up with tuesdays when he has peter Fitsimmons on. Unlike Paul, he is rude, arrogant and extremely unlikeable and drags the whole show down as a result.

  7. I think Paul Murray Live is only so high because unlike a lot of other shows it doesn’t get endless repeats a few hours after the first broadcast. Not to say its not popular but the Pay TV ratings model is quite bizzare and misleading IMO.

  8. I thought Prisoner would be in the top 100 at least but I think it’s actually played 6 times so averages would be down. Would be good to see how much it peaked in the main timeslot.
