The US adaptation of Wilfred has been picked up by the BBC.
The FX production, with Family Guy writer David Zuckerman as showrunner, is among BBC3 controller Zai Bennett’s inaugural commissions.
Wilfred was developed into a series by Renegade Productions for SBS before being picked up by FX with star Jason Gann and Elijah Wood.
It debuts on FX in the US next month and will air quickly thereafter in Australia on ELEVEN.

I caught this series when I was on holiday in Australia earlier in the year and loved it but why are the BBC showing the American remake and not the original version? I’ll still watch it when it starts but don’t imagine liking it as much.
@Shane: perhaps you are the one out of step?
Thought Ten would stick this production on One HD, very friendly for the target audience.
Why complain that they are picking up the remake? The show is woeful regardless of accent. Seriously, the things that get popular in this country sometimes – just boggles my mind.
Pathetic that they’d pick up the remake and not the original.
So the English don’t get to see the real Australian version?
On FX it is the lead in for ‘Louie’ which is only good news.
