The Amazing Race Australia: finalists

Here are the three teams who will compete in the final of The Amazing Race Australia next week.

The three teams who will compete in the final of The Amazing Race Australia are:

Models Sam and Renae
Surfers Tyler and Nathan
Father & Son Jeff and Luke

Last night farmers Matt and Tom were eliminated in Sri Lanka after struggling through a challenge that involved sewing in a local factory.

Both Sam & Renae and Tyler & Nathan also suffered penalties of 20 minutes after accidentally taking private transport instead of a local taxi.

Next week the three teams will head to Singapore before racing to the finish mat in Australia, where one team will win the $250,000 prize money.

The final will air at the later time of 9pm Monday on Seven.

Applications are now open for the second season, to air in 2012.

  1. Matt and Tom were great – had many a laugh with them. The other remaining three couples deserve to go into the final, they are all likeable people. I think the not so popular ones left early on. Really enjoyed the Australian version.

  2. @Paul. I’m not slagging the show, I like it too and am glad there’s a second season. But they can’t be ‘happy with it’ as you say. Isn’t it too expensive to be falling below the 1m in it’s penultimate ep?

  3. Sewing task – not a given that either female would of been good at it, plenty of females have zero talent in that area. But even if it could be said it was an advantage. When the task was set up, was it known said females had a 30 penalty against them, and that they would have a further 20min penalty within that episode for getting in a wrong vehicle also. They have had all sorts of tasks sprinkled throughout the Series, and placed in unsual places. The females really only ‘just’ got to stay in the game, that couln’t of been planned. It was a genuine stay in the game for them I think. The Cowboys going home was real.

  4. @ CrAig, yes it lost it’s timeslot for the first time yesterday, but overall the show has done a great job getting over a million viewers each episode up until last night without much of a lead in. I’m sure that the finale will get between 1 to 1.2 million viewers next week.

  5. The cowboys were great, I’ll miss them.

Unfortunately on TAR good guys don’t always win, as in life.

I am not a fan of the ‘I’m so in love with myself’ surfer dudes/blondes.

  6. Mmm… a sewing task that might give the girls an advantage and ensure a female team was in the final? The finish line in Perth which might give the girls a hometown advantage? Could the producers be hoping for an all-female winning team?

  7. Great effort by the models to come from last to first. I enjoyed last nights episode. I laughed when the father son and the farmers took a different flight and were sitting by the pool thinking the other two teams were only 1/2 an hour in front then got to the first place of destination to find they had already gone.

Im disappointed that the farmers got eliminated. But I like the other teams so im not sure who Id want out. I did like Matts comments though. Get me back to Australia ASAP. But for two farmers who had never left the country they did so well.

  8. First choice to win, the Models, the show was male friendly in tasks, for the most part, so I think for a 2 female team to make it to the final, is a credit to them.
Second choice, Father/Son, I think they deserve to be in the final. Also, the Cowboys got to stay in the show, because of a help from the Father/Son a little while back, the Cowboys were gone otherwise, so credit where credit is due.
Would of rather the Cowboys in the final, not the Surfers. I am a ‘no’ for the Surfers to win. Rather it be the Models or Father/Son instead.

  9. My pick to win is Tyler and Nathan, because they have won more legs than any other team in the final & they have always been in the top of the pack, their lowest finish was 6th place in leg one.

  10. Disappointed Matt and Tom didn’t make the final. They were the most entertaining team left and the only ones that showed any spark of life or humour in their confessionals. Went out with good grace too. “Send me back to Australia – ASAP” – LOL. At least they won plenty of prizes.

  11. i have really enjoyed this season of the amazing race (compared to the american version)!

i would have liked to have seen matt and tom in the final 3 because they really bought their a-game, whereas the father/son team just rode everyones coattails under the guise of “team work”.

  12. Really enjoying TAR Australia. Don’t you love reality shows with likeable characters. There was nobody in last night’s show that you’s begrudge winning. Maybe it is the same in some of the other shows but the editing suggests otherwise.

Congrats to 7 for spending on the production values also. The show is well produced and stands up against its US original.

  13. Models for the win! Sam and Renae have successfully overcome the preconceptions about them by being tough competitors and having one of the most supportive relationships on the race. What a great series of TV. Can’t wait for Season 2!

  14. Good on Sam & Renae to come from last to end up reaching the pit-stop first. It was about time the guys had a challenge that was not in their favour. My only criticism of the series is that a good deal of the challenges have required strength (sawing logs, carrying a giant wooden cross etc) that were obviously skewed towards the male physique. This challenge involved intricate sewing and deft handiwork. with a needle A nice twist.

It will make for a ripper final – I am sure!

  15. What a great pair of blokes Matt & Tom are. Watching Matt try to do that sewing task last night was hilarious. Big effort by Sam & Renae also coming from last to win the leg because that 30 minute penalty hanging over their head from the non-elimination leg could’ve been their downfall. I hope they win.
