Later this month ABC2 will play the 3 part French-German mini-series, Carlos, starring Édgar RamÃrez as infamous terrorist and murderer Carlos the Jackal.
This won the 2010 Golden Globe Award for the ‘Best Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television’ and screened at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.
From Olivier Assayas, director of Irma Vep and Summer Hours, comes a powerful three-part series: an epic portrayal of the notorious revolutionary and terrorist, Ilich RamÃrez Sánchez aka Carlos the Jackal, starring Édgar RamÃrez who earned a Golden Globe nomination for the role.
Born in Venezuela and politicised in Europe, Sánchez took the moniker ‘Carlos the Jackal’, and for two decades was one of the most wanted terrorists on the planet.
Best known for his infamous 1975 attack on the OPEC headquarters in Vienna, where he took more than 60 people – including the oil ministers of many member nations – hostage, Carlos managed to weave his way into the complexities of international politics with his attacks in Europe and the Middle East throughout the ’70s and ’80s.
Spanning 20 years, Assayas’s exciting, sexy, and globe-spanning portrait of the notorious international terrorist mastermind, electrified audiences at its premiere at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
Part One: 8:30pm Monday 29 August on ABC2.

this is a great mini-series, cant believe its not on at a better time slot
Fantastic. This is a great film and the flow and atmosphere won’t be wrecked by ads for insurance and cleaning products.
Sounds more like a show for SBS.
