Live blog: Jane Lynch opened the Emmy Awards with a musical tribute to television (well lipsyncing it anyway) in which she appeared on the sets of beloved TV shows including Mad Men, The Big Bang Theory, and more, before bursting on stage surrounded by dancers.
“TV is a vast wonderland, there’s no place like TV,” she sang. “Except for HBO it’s not TV.”
Yes, the annual Emmy Awards are underway.

Any chance that “Mildred Pierce” will get a Free-to-Air screening?
Or will we have to wait until it’s released on DVD?
Wouldn’t expect Mildred Pierce on FTA this year. Maybe a public broadcaster might get it next year, but probably 12 months off if at all.
Urgh, those women who thank their husbands and those men who thank their wives. Why do they flaunt their heterosexuality like that? It’s so annoying.
The Daily Show… Again! I’m glad it keeps winning. Jimmy Fallons face was hilarious.
Loved Guy Pearce’s speech..it was the funniest of all those delivered.I loved Jane Lynch’s lesbian references.

Amazing Race always wins. Yeah Julianna won for the Good Wife, but its a shame that Josh or Alan couldnt win as best supporting actor. I agree Jim Parsons is fantastic on tbbt. Why doesnt the character who plays Penny doesnt get a nomination.

@ Jen I feel your pain somewhat. I remember when it was an honour to win many emmys. Back in the day, if it were nominated for 5 it was a good show, if it was nominated for 10, it was a great show, if it was nominated for 15 it was a show that would be remembered 4 decades from then, if it was nominated for 20, it was a once ina lifetime event. I remember last season about 4 different shows had about 30+ nominations. It does seem cheap these awards, as if they are handing out more nominations than they should.
Personally, I hope The Good Wife and Friday Night Lights see some recognition. Both their last seasons were outstanding.
Well done Friday Night Lights for best writing in a Drama series it deserves it. It has been the best drama on TV since it started untill it ended.

How did the very unfunny Jim Parsons win? He speaks in a monotone that is beyond grating. Steve Carell is far more talented and deserved it far more!!

@Jen- I’ve been guilty of this regularly and I know it is part of our culture as Australians we believe it’s okay to love something but only while we think we are in a minority as soon as it becomes obvious it is universally revered we give it the old tall poppy treatment….now I am being cynical about being a cynic,old habits die hard.
All this Modern Family winning is making me hate it.
