Beauty & the Geek Australia, Amazing Race update

Beauty & The Geek Australia and The Amazing Race are both set to have a minor makeover to their timeslots.

A little update to Seven’s Thursday nights….

This week Beauty & The Geek Australia has the first of its 2-part makeover edition. Yep, 2 parts. If the numbers were anything like last year they could be huge.

Next week the show moves to 7:30pm with a 90 minute episode. That means The Amazing Race will start at 9pm. How I Met Your Mother follows and Outsourced will be a double episode at 10:30pm.

The week after TAR will be 8:30pm. Effectively it’s creeping back by 30 minutes each week…

Here is the BATGA synopsis for two weeks, although I have deleted one reference from October 27 which sounded like a bit of a spoiler….

October 20
Tonight, the teams work together for a couple’s photographic challenge. Posing as famous couples, from Adam and Eve to Antony and Cleopatra, is especially confronting for some. Who will rise to the difficult challenge, and who will fail to adapt? Those who show the he biggest transformation will get the chance to meet stylist Henry Roth for a special one-on-one makeover session. And all geeks will get the chance to practice their newfound social skills when they go on unique dates.

October 27
This week, the geeks are given an image overhaul with the help of an all-star makeover team. Celebrity stylist Henry Roth returns to oversee the remaining geeks’ new looks, from wardrobe right through to hair and grooming. But will their outward appearance help improve their confidence? They’ll be put to the ultimate test in a ‘Full Monty’ style challenge in front of a screaming crowd. Meanwhile, the beauties take charge of a fantasy Superhero invented for them by their geeks. Who will have the right super powers to keep their team safe?

  1. It does feel a little bit like the bad old days when The Amazing Race was moved all over the place, and you had to be on your toes not to miss an episode. At least now they are just moving it around on the one night (so far) and thanks to you David for keeping us up to date on the moves. I have always thought this was more a family show and deserved an earlier timeslot. Thank goodness that stupid wedding show is going.

  2. 99% sure Seven have back-flipped on their plan to fast-track HIMYM season 7 (which they already started advertising for)

Nine have done the same with “2 Broke Girls”.

  3. @ JB – Four Weddings was on at 7.30. The season is over, hence why they’re moving things (although I expected How I Met Yoir Mother would go to 7.30)

You could always record the Friday night replay of The Slap (9.30 on ABC2) which would allow you to record TAR on Thursdays. Simple.

  4. I hope they don’t do to another geek what they did to poor Thomas (?) – bleached his hair white, painted him orange, threw him into an over-sized track-suit from the 90’s and told him that he looked “great”.

The whole makeover seemed aimed at inducing laughs from the audience as opposed to actually increasing his confidence and physical attractiveness.

  5. Stuff ya then Seven. I won’t be watching Amazing Race on Seven now. Should have just put it on at 7.30. I watch Rush and record The Slap. So Amazing Race at 8.30 doesn’t work for me, and what is the point of having B&TG at 8.30 from the start, and then just suddenly move to 7.30?
