There’s no Celine Dion or Leo Di Caprio -but did they cast the same actor for the captain?

  1. @Jordan. Cameron’s Titantic added a lot of drama and sparkle that was never found in any of the witness accounts. It’s generally agreed that A Night to Remember is the most accurate recreations of the sinking of the Titanic without all the crap.

  2. Why have they remade the movie for tv???
The movie is a classic – with no Leo & Celine, won’t be the same!
Will probably tune in though 🙂

  3. Never have I come across such ignorant and rude people like I have seen on here. James Cameron’s film was nothing more than a typical overrated Hollywood love story. A dreadful storyline covered by special effects. Julian Fellowes Titanic Is original and promises to live up to its built up hype. If you’re not going to give this a chance, then I suggest you all drop your childish antics and grow up.

    @Animal
Perhaps we should all get over our war films and the genocide and the 9/11 attacks.. a tragedy is a tragedy that effected people and families in different ways.. such snide comments would be tolerated from a barbarian than a heartless human being.

  4. After years of barely commissioning anything that didnt involve a judging panel, ITV is churning out done great dramas at the moment, with Julian Fellowes involved, this should be another, looking forward to it!

  5. Meh. I’ll wait for the BBC mini series Titanic: Blood & Steel starring: Derek Jacobi, Chris Noth & Neve Campbell. IMDB says it will be 12 episodes.

  6. Meh borning, no offence David, but hasn’t there been enough crrap about the Titanic, endless bloody movies, conspiracy theories, books documentaries, this happened 100 years, it’s time people bloody moved on

    I won’t be watching it!!!

Can people come up with something original

  7. Ctrl+C 1997 Script
    Ctrl+V Into new Document
Ctrl+H The names “Jack” and “Rose” with something new
    Ctrl+P Print
Some of those scenes looked shot for shot the same. I know the overall story line would be similar – fun on boat, hit iceberg, boat begins to sink, people try to escape, boat sinks…but that doesn’t mean that the entire storyline and worse camera angles should all be the same. If it is in fact different, the trailer doesn’t seem to paint it that way. if it is in fact the same, what’s the point?

  8. 9 has a Titanic week every week – most of their shows sink without trace.

I don’t see the point of this at all. Cameron is re-releasing his film in 3D in cinemas at the same time.

  9. If you’ve watched A Night To Remember and SOS Titanic… you will know that James Cameron’s version is very identical to them… everything is based on survivor accounts… of course everything would be the same!!!

  10. Looks great but doesn’t look different enough from the 1997 movie. Sure they need to use a similar story, but the style of filming, acting and setting could have been executed differently.

  11. Looks good, but also looks like they’ve just copy and pasted the movie. Some of those scenes are identical.

So this will air on the 100th anniversary? Think it will be a big news week

  12. Excellent!! The CGI still needs a lot of work – but, that’s expected from a TV series. They’re still adding the finishing touches to the TV series as it’s still in production and still being filmed. It’s only showing us 40% of series… the rest will be spellbinding for sure!! The actor portraying Captain Smith isn’t the same Captain in James Cameron’s version… doesn’t every actor portraying Captain Smith supposed to look like him? 😉
