Today replays Beyonce from GMA

Today in NYC had been teasing us with a Beyonce performance all morning, only to play an old Good Morning America clip from July.

The Today show is now enjoying its week-long broadcasts from New York, at the studio used for Good Morning America.

In fact that wasn’t the only thing it used from GMA.

Last week it publicised an impressive array of stars appearing on the show:

Broadcasting live from the Good Morning America studios on Times Square, the show will feature performances from Alicia Keys and Beyonce, and special guests Tony Bennett, Kim Kardashian, The Trumps, your favourite Sesame Street characters, and plenty more surprises.

All morning the show had teased that Beyonce would perform. But not until the last minute was it revealed that Today would simply be replaying a performance she did for GMA. Very cheeky…. The performance has been on YouTube since July.

Despite acknowledging the performance was from its “sister show”, Today also covered up much of the GMA IDs.

Viewers who had seen her interviewed on Sunday Night last night might have been wondering where her baby bump disappeared to.

Can’t help but wonder whether Alicia Keys and other stars will also be video replays or actually live in the studio….

  2. fairly sure the Alicia Keys performance will be the ‘Empire State of Mind II’ performance she did in the middle of a NY street for GMA some time ago as well. In fact I think I’m right in saying last week Today used some visuals from that performance when advertising she would be on the show

  4. It’s so typical of Nine. Lies lies and more lies. It’s why I stick with Sunrise. I saw that Beyonce clip ages ago when it aired on GMA earlier this year.

  5. They should have just called it “Ben’s free honeymoon” I hope things improve.

    I did notice also today that a person with an American accent was directing an Aussie to turn around on cue and thought they must be using an American crew too?

    Its so weird watching GMA then Today. It’s the exact same set but they are completely different shows with a different feel and everything.

    I wish I was the guest booker, I prob know about which celebrities are in New York atm then they seem to.

    Also Saw Sunday night for the first time ever and they advertsied Beyonce crying, never happened on screen…. Shoddy both networks!!

  9. I have never really watched Today, so no great loss, pity the poor buggers who got sucked in by this crap. Do they (ch9) not realise that with the power of the internet they will be rumbled and have their credibility shredded. I have mainly watched Sunrise but am getting fed up of the same old crap on there, so now I watch ABC news breakfast more and more…

  10. Why do they aim for the sky when they can barely shoot straight ahead?

    Today is so low brow it’s insulting. The only respectable one is Georgie Gardener.. she needs to get some credibility back and return News bulletins full time.

  15. Why are they over there? I know that Sunrise went overseas last year to hawaii but they included the audience to go with them and they mingled with them.

    I mean at least go over there to interview big stars. Except you flew over there to interview sesame street characters and Kim Kardashian and now you are showing old clips.

    At least richard Wilkins is out of the country.

  16. I was home waiting for a repair man when this came on, and when I worked out it was just a replay I flicke dover to Sunrise – where Anthony Callea was lipsynching to some god-horrible song with bad back up dancing.

    TEN’s new Breakfast better offer up a point of difference…

  17. These people have no shame. Wendy Kingston tweeted about loving the Hamster, whilst they completely destroyed any claim to credibility her news department could make. Then, the other day, she tweets that leading her bulletin will be “the first shots of Miranda Kerr naked since she gave birth”. They have no shame. If “important” people stopped pretending these “journalists” had influence, we could ignore them.

  20. When the lineup of stars for this weeks Today was published on tvtonight I gave a positive comment, which would have to be some kind of first for me. Never again.
