Deni Hines fired from Celebrity Apprentice

Mark Bouris fired one of Celebrity Apprentice‘s two “villains” last night when Deni Hines was sent packing from the show.

Hines was eliminated over teammates Lisa Curry and Pauline Hanson, deemed to have mismanaged her team at Monday night’s challenge.

For many viewers it was doubtless her Reality TV ‘come-uppance’ after considerable online chat that her demeanour was not resonating. At a previous challenge for KFC, Hines declined to sing a jingle arguing she was ‘protecting my brand.’

She also questioned the liberal use of the phrase ‘Celebrity’ applied to anybody who has been on TV for more than 5 minutes.

That challenge saw former Block contestant Polly Porter fired by Bouris last week.

Since then Hines has attracted much negative comment that would suggest she has damaged her brand in unexpected ways. Reality Television is a fickle game.

Today she tells the Daily Telegraph, “I can’t wait for this shit to get off the air, so people can stop picking on me.

“For the first time in my life, my Twitter page was no.5 in Australia and not for nice things.”

Her firing now leaves the unstoppable Max Markson as the show’s biggest bad boy, unless the always-surprising Pauline Hanson can outrank him as the next villain. As Julia Morris tells us, she “likes to get the snake out.”

To her credit, Hines’ “Ignite” team had raised $47,400 for charity. But she was defiant to the end, insisting she had never been fired before and would never be able to work for anybody other than herself.

Brand intact?

  1. I intensely disliked Deni – could not find a single redeeming feature, but damn that woman made good TV!

Huge mistake firing her over Pauline, Huge mistake firing Deni and Polly (aka Poppy) in the first weeks of the show – I reckon those two were days away from fisticuffs. Boo, Bouris, boo! No fun.

  2. @Ruby, yeah, I’ve noticed that when she gets flustered and confused (basically 99% of the time) she gets that sniffy, quavery, I’m-about-to-dissolve-into- hysterical-sobs-because-you’re-so-mean edge in her voice. She really is extraordinarily sensitive. Whether she gets that edge in her voice unconsciously or whether she purposely puts it on to manipulate sympathy, I haven’t quite worked out, but she has always done it. From what I’ve seen of CA, she is not performing well at all, but the producers would be desperate for her to stay in the comp as she is a polarising figure that viewers either love or love to hate. Pauline will be there for a while, I’m sure, the producers are relying on her for ratings.

  3. You know when you buy one of those cheap brand shirts and the label annoys the back of your neck and the only way to fix is to remove it…….yeah just like that.

  4. @Allie, yes Pauline does seem to get flustered easily she sounds like she is going to burst into tears most of the time, and is it time to let go of the phrase “Please explain”

  5. For those wondering, Deni Hines had four top 20 hit singles between 1991 and 1996… the last of which was 16 years ago! You have to wonder how she clings to her ‘celebrity’ moniker.

  6. Hines is crazier than a cut snake, really a very deluded woman. I think she has done untold damage to herself by appearing on this show and it will take ages for her to live this down. I’ll bet she is seriously regretting appearing on the progam, it has really backfired on her due to her disagreeable personality.

I continue to be surprised by Pauline Hanson – honestly, the woman cannot string two coherent sentences together, it’s shocking. I noticed this tendency when she was in politics and she got so easily flustered in interviews, lost track of the topic and jabbered on with nonsensical garbage, but it appears that is her normal state – chaotic and borderline incoherent.

  7. I liked Deni at the start, but, towards the end I started to loose my respect for her. Im glad Polly left instead of her though, Didn’t like Polly, she Big noted herself and going off what Julia Morris said on my local radio station, Polly was a backstabber and none of the girls liked her and Deni was the only one who stood up to her. But last night I didn’t want Pauline or Lisa to go, They were/are have a better attitude.

  8. Max Markson is a tosser, but he understands that its about the charities, and trying to get as much money for them as possible.

Deni was the most annoying thing about CA, but at the same time I kind of wish she stayed because of the pot-stirring.

  9. I’m glad Deni was fired: she came across as nothing more than a real b@tch. And all this talk of ‘protecting her brand’…..please! What brand? Deni Hines had 2 Top 10 singles so many years ago and what has she done since? Will she be remembered for her longevity in the music business? I don’t think so….

  10. She was a complete was of space for her team.

Selfish, not helpful, not a team player and very un Australian.

She is Not a celebrity a all.
What has she ever done to be called a Celebrity?

How can they call her a Pop Princess?

I cannot name or remember any of her songs, her only claim to fame is that she has a mum called Marcia Hines.

  11. Strange isn’t it …..now that she has been fired the show is shit!!!!???? Deni was great on the show though….we all loved to hate her!!! She was the obvious choice to be fired!!!
