TEN brings back 6pm bulletin

Updated: TEN will trim its 5pm local bulletins by thirty minutes and introduce a local half-hour bulletin from Monday.

TEN will trim its 5pm local bulletins by thirty minutes and introduce a half-hour bulletin from Monday.

It is yet another change to the networks’ News revamp.

The change takes effect in time with the summer ratings period -but will it continue when ratings resume?

TEN traditionally won the 5-6pm slot, but after Seven and Nine extended their 4:30pm bulletins and TEN added another thirty minutes the numbers began to drop.

Updated: 6pm bulletins will be Local not National. Apologies for this error.

  1. The changes TEN have made lately are very welcome. 2 out of 3 of my suggested line-up are now in place, which now only needs Neighbours to return to TEN at 7:00pm from 2012, with The Project reverting to the more sustainable 30 minutes and, hey presto, the original line-up of the Eighties and early Nineties (News, Current Affairs, Soap).

Stick with it TEN, this classic line-up is the only one that will ever work.

  2. Give up! I can’t say anymore, because i’ve lost patience and words! By the way there is a so called “6PM edition”. It’s being playing since late Oct, in Melb. I noticed, because the 5-6pm in Melb was like the news hour before 2011 and the 30 minutes at 6pm was a condensed version of the 5-6pm slot.

Lets try this and stick to it:
9-11am The circle, 11-11:30am Huey, 11:30-Midday Morning News
    Midday-2pm Dr Phil /Dr.’s, 2-3pm RSC or ?, 3-3:30 Judge Judy, 3:30-4:30 kids stuff
    4:30-5:30pm National news, 5:30-6pm Neighbours, 6-6:30pm News,
    6:30-7pm Project, 7-8pm Reality show, 8-9pm various, 9-9:30pm B&B.

B&B at 9pm cuts out editing needs, meaning “Adult stuff” can air. News airing like 9 and 7 might work. They’ll have to go against them toe to toe. Neighbours may not go from 11 anytime soon. As shown air 5:30pm on TEN, as well as 6:30 on 11. Huey could stay at 4pm or move to 11am as shown. But 4pm is better for Kids stuff.

    Oh well…

  3. I think tens biggest mistake was moving to a 5 pm local news over about 15 years ago. It ruined their prime time audience. Given their struggle to find something to fill the 6-7.30 time slots

  4. Yep as others have said Ten should line up like this
Ten news-5-6pm, the project-6-7, the biggest loser, masterchef and so on 7-7.30, new shows like glee, modern family, tbyg and new simpsons should be 7.30-8pm or double up with new eps then repeats so they go till 8.30 and then your usual ncis, svu and so on, that would be perfect!!

  5. It’s sad that so many people are affected by Andrew Bolt.. It’s as if you don’t want the guy to have a job just because he has a different opinion to yours..

    Geez people, get over it…

  6. I stopped watching Ten News when it became infected by the right-wing opinion pieces of Andrew Bolt and Prue MacSween. I don’t like the news bulletins turning into biased current affairs shows. Ten News is a “No Go Zone” in my household now.

  7. Too much news.

Viewers, your headlines will be departing nationally at 5pm, 5:28pm, recap at 5:59pm, locally at 6:00pm and a recap at 6:29pm. Failing that, you can catch the gist of it with The Project at 6:31pm.

    Is that about accurate?

  8. Yeah i’ve given up on Ten news as it is so it really doesn’t affect me anymore when they put their news on. Stopped watching the moment they started giving Andrew Bolt a commentary segment after political stories. It’s the news, not Andrew Bolt rant hour.
