Airdate: Carols by Candlelight 2011

First timers at Carols this year are Christie Whelan, Emma Pask and Amy Lehpamer.

Nine has confirmed the final line-up for Saturday night’s annual Carols by Candlelight to be hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson.

Carols ambassador, Stan Walker said, “I’m excited and feel blessed to be part of this Carols by Candlelight because of the opportunity to support an awesome cause like Vision Australia. They help families all around Australia and the work and services they provide are so important,” Stan said.

Now in its 74th year, Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight has become a Christmas tradition for households around the country.

This year audiences will be treated to performances by Ricki-Lee Coulter, Tim Campbell, Anthony Callea, Marina Prior, Troy Cassar-Daley, James Morrison and David Hobson, who will perform their Christmas favourites.

The Music Bowl will be set alight by the cast of Love Never Dies, the Australian Girls Choir, National Boys Choir and The Legends of Rock: Wilbur Wilde, Frankie J. Holden, Wendy Stapleton, Ross Wilson and Russell Morris.

The star-studded line-up will again include Denis Walter, Silvie Paladino and Lucy Durack. We also welcome Christie Whelan (pictured), Emma Pask and Amy Lehpamer to the spectacular night as they step onto the Carols by Candlelight stage for the first time.

Children’s favourites Hi-5 will keep the little ones entertained, and no night of carols would be complete without a visit from Santa, taking time out from his busy schedule to make a special appearance at the Music Bowl.

Carols by Candlelight will again be conducted under the guidance of John Foreman, who is returning for his ninth year as musical director and his third year as one of the show’s producers.

Saturday, December 24, at 8.00pm on Channel Nine.

  1. Can you tell me where I can get a copy of that song that the lady in the red dress sang(the one she wrote called “at a time like this”. It was beautiful and was just wondering is it on a CD anywhere in sydney, Australia…?????Please can you help?

  2. Went to carols in the Domain (Melb). Was made to leave my camera at the cloak room for $5, had to sit where we couldn’t even see the stage and to top it off….David Hobson (great voice) who has sung The Holy City for the past zillion years….decides to sing The Lords Prayer instead!!!!!!! WTF!!

  3. Errrrk, where have our TV standards gone? Hi-5 were just singing, and then out comes the “Happy Feet Two penguins!!!” and then out comes Santa. Knowing the eyes of every child in the country will be on the TV right now. I feel dirty just from having to watch it at home. I bet once the ad break hits the first ad will be for Happy Feet Two.

  4. Always love watching the Carols but why do they persist in having Karl and Lisa?? We have plenty of people in Victoria who would do a much better job (just, please, not Daryl Somers). Would love to see Hitch do it.

  5. Nine has Talent. Seven has it’s “personalities” being made out as having talent. Seven also thinks a night of jazzed up songs, with the word Santa in every 2nd song is cool!

That’s why Nine does it good and should keep doing so. They have voices, who sing as talent. Seven have voices who act as talent.
