Nine scores run on Sunday

Nine's coverage of the One Day Cricket helped it to win Sunday.

Nine’s coverage of the One Day Cricket helped it to win Sunday with the game averaging 1.28m and 999,000 across its two sessions, and Nine News topping the night on 1.42m viewers. NRL in the arvo was 440,000.

Seven had to settle for second place with Seven News (1.3m), Border Security (1.2m), The Force (1.18m), Sunday Night (1.17m), Bones (980,000) and Castle (846,000 / 543,000).

Modern Family (1.08m) topped TEN then New Girl (1.07m), Homeland (901,000), Young Talent Time (655,000), TEN News (463,000) and The Project (323,000). TEN really needs to reconsider whether having the latter on a Sunday is of any benefit to anyone -including how the soft lead-in is damaging YTT. That said, TEN did do well in the demos.

Midsomer Murders (1.00m) led ABC1 and was followed by ABC News (776,000), Great Expectations (770,000), a repeat of Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (271,000). In its new 6:30 slot Compass could only manage 265,000.

Becoming Human was 244,000 for SBS ONE and Fukushima: Is Nuclear Power Safe? was 233,000.

GEM had the highest-rating multichannel show with 339,000 viewers for a repeat of Friends. Who knew?

  1. I enjoyed Compass….and also before that Best of Collectors…glad to see it back….even in repeats…..and Great Expectations not bad.

  2. Bogues, it didn’t help that it was only known the game was going live across the country until thursday night. So most people wouldn’t of known, and also 2 teams that played, 1 is from NZ and the other no one likes. When ever channel 9 decide to put a game on live into the other states they never promote it nor is it a game outside fans would want to watch. Im just glad that whoever did watch it outside of nsw/qld enjoyed what was a great game that showed off why fans love league. It was a beautiful sunny day in Auckland, you got to see the game of the round by far and then sit back and watch Warner smash a hundred, nothing better than that.

  3. I wonder if the Friends repeat was coded with OzTam correctly. Given the scheduling of cricket around the early wet weather, this could possibly have been the cricket in all states.

The league figures for ‘AFL states’ should once and for all prove that people simply don’t watch NRL in AFL states.
