Jerry O’Connell the next Herman Munster

Jerry O’Connell has landed the role of Herman Munster in the NBC reboot of The Munsters.

They are very big shoes to fill (literally).

Jerry O’Connell from Crossing Jordan and Sliders has landed the role of Herman Munster in the NBC reboot of The Munsters, TVLine reports. I guess Brad Garrett was busy?

Also cast are Eddie Izzard as Grandpa and Mason Cook as Eddie.

Mockingbird Lane, as it has been titled, is helmed by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller with the equally talented Bryan Singer set to direct. As has been previously reported, it will also shift tone from a goofy sitcom to a “visually spectacular one hour drama.”

The role of Herman Munster was originated by the wonderful Fred Gwynne and another cast once attempted to revive the family in The Munsters Today.

  1. Well I didn’t expect that. But then I am not sure what to expect of this show. It originally intrigued me, but now it’s starting to feel like it may be too similar to all the many other werewolf/vampire Fantasy shows we’ve had in the last couple of years.

  2. Man this thing is going to tank so bad and will be lucking to see out the initial 13 episode order, no chance of getting a back 9. NBC can’t get shows with good premises to succeed, let alone awful things like this. 7 episodes will air, that’s my bet.

  3. I wonder if they’ll use the same 1313 Mockingbird Lane building for the exteriors again – after all, Wysteria Lane is standing idle at present.
