“Hi, I’m Mitch. Welcome to The Shire. We call it God’s Country.”

TEN has released a new promo for The Shire that introduces us to more from Mitch, Gabby, Sophie, Vernesa, Beckaa, Kerry, Megan.

It’s becoming clear that the show is a mix of candid, comedic, and controversial scenes. TEN’s biggest challenge will be in educating the audience to the genre.

Just like any good soap opera, you can follow our guys and girls through the highs of falling in love, to the lows of heartbreak. Leaving no stone unturned, the series will closely follow their paths as they pursue lifelong hopes and dreams.

Stay tuned to TEN for juicy drama, romance, tears, triumph, gossip and good times on The Shire.

  1. Its Australia’s version of “Jersy Shore”. Filled with self serving self interested people who are willing to make fools of themselves in the name of 5 minutes of fame.
Is our TV viewing really dropping so low that we watch these wittless people.
Channel 10 enough of the promo’s it has already put me off – Lara Bingle was bad enough.

  2. I think it is wrong to compare this to jersey shore. Jersey shore. As stupid as that show is, it’s more reality based or less “set up”. This is more like the hills than the shore. But they wont compare it to the hills. As Jersey shore has more “gulp” credibility than the hills.

  3. Love the promos.

Isn’t this being filmed in Tony Abbott’s electorate?

The people are rich, fake and stupid – the sort of people he likes.

  4. Check out the dolly shot as the girl cries at the table towards the end, that means they’d had to set up track and camera assists for those impromptu tears…. Almost every scene has 3 cameras covering it (or they’ve re-positioned cameras and done extra takes) not tot mention that every car scene has a shot looking back into the car from the bonnet through the windscreen – suction grip mounted cameras? That’s a hell of a lot of hardware, must be hard for the “Real People” to not have a script… I’ll still be watching the first ep, glad there calling it a dramality and not reality…

  5. While I will watch the first episode (I believe in giving every show a chance) I cannot shake the feeling that this is something I have seen before, so I think that anyone that calls this “innovative” just hasn’t been paying attention 😉

I also believe that Ten are lying through their teeth when they say there is “no scripts”. Maybe not the entirety of the show, but there is no doubt that these people are fed some of their lines… they even seem to fluff them in the promo.

  6. It will rate & engage audiences as a huge slab of punters love voyerism. This seems to be just that! Good luck to TEN for having a go with innovative and risky content.

  7. This really reminds me of Laguna Beach. I’ll probably catch one the replays. It looks like a guilty pleasure. But maybe suited more for ELEVEN.
