Comedian Merrick Watts will host Tractor Monkeys, ABC’s next comedy quiz show.
He will be joined by Dave O’Neil and NOVA presenter Katie “Monty” Dimond leading two teams of guest panelists.
As tipped by TV Tonight the 8 part series sees a mix of quick fire rounds of questions and games inspired by ABC TV’s archive vault.
“I’m genuinely excited to be hosting this show for the ABC. Aunty’s film vaults are an endless source of comedy gold that I can’t wait to unlock,” says Merrick Watts.
Jennifer Collins, ABC TV’s Head of Entertainment added, “With Merrick at the wheel, Tractor Monkeys promises a fast and chaotic ride through the bizarre, wonderful and at times disturbing trends, fads and social phenomena that have shaped us all.”
Tractor Monkeys starts filming in Sydney mid November, and will screen in 2013 on ABC1.
Studio audience tix are available from October 30 at abc.net.au/tractormonkeys

I thought this was being made in Melbourne too. It’s a shame as usually the shows made in Melbourne are much better than the ones made in Sydney. Spicks – Melbourne. Randling – Syd…and there’s a much longer list of examples than that
I hope they tried really hard to get Tony Martin as host. No disrespect to Merrick who I like.
Good news is I don’t think it could be any worse than Randling
@Hoin – I think you’ll find the ABC didn’t ‘axe’ Spicks and Specks. The people who made the show chose not to do another series.
Gee, they’re doing everything they can to try and fill the hole left by the axing of Spicks and Specks. Reminds me of when Nine axed Burke’s Backyard because “it didn’t appeal to Gen Y” (despite it still winning its timeslot) then spent the next five or six years begging Burke to come back and do Sunday night “specials”.
Does anyone know why this is being produced and made in Melb but filmed in Syd?
Great, another panel show. Maybe ABC should look into screening Rob Brydon’s Annually Retentive.
