Returning: Kingdom

I'm sure ABC had rescheduled Kingdom to return in the middle of the year, but it's back now anyway.

I’m sure ABC had rescheduled Kingdom to return in the middle of the year (I even remember watching the DVD preview) but I guess they must have changed plans at the last minute. Sometimes it’s even hard for us folk who do this for a living to stay on top of it all.

Nevertheless Season Three with Stephen Fry starts officially this Saturday night.

It guest stars Ab Fab‘s own June Whitfield.

Respected country solicitor Peter Kingdom (Stephen Fry) returns for a third series. With the assistance of his apprentice Lyle (Karl Davies) and secretary Gloria (Celia Imrie), Peter runs his small legal practice in Market Shipborough amongst the eccentric people of Norfolk.

Stephen Fry is joined by Hermione Norris, Karl Davies, Celia Imrie, Tony Slattery, Phyllida Law, John Thomson and a host of guest stars, including June Whitfield, Peter Sallis, Sandi Toksvig, Jack Dee, Sophie Winkleman, Anna Massey and Jaye Griffiths.

In this opening episode Peter has the difficult task of trying to help an injured Iraq War veteran come to terms with his future, and Lyle meets a woman who claims she was sexually discriminated against by the army. Meanwhile, Gloria deals with a demanding father and Beatrice adjusts to motherhood in her own way.

8:20pm Saturday ABC1.

  1. Kingdom was axed in 2009. I guess the ABC figured that waiting 4 years to show the final series was too long and they should get it to air while it’s only 3 1/2 years old.
