Gone: White Collar

White Collar has disappeared from TEN, replaced by a repeat of Law and Order: SVU.

That didn’t take long.

White Collar has disappeared from TEN’s Thursday night line-up, replaced by a repeat of Law and Order: SVU as of tonight.

That was just one week…

TEN did trumpet its summer line-up with White Collar some weeks ago. Hopefully they will find a way of appeasing fans sooner rather than later.

  1. Was the only show that I watched on Ten. I bought Blue Bloods 1 & 2 for about $40. I know what I will be watching. Just added White Collar 3 to my queue at Quickflix. And still waiting for Law & Order UK. I remember reading that 11 had bought Torchwood Miracle Day. Will be a Miracle Day indeed if all these unseen shows are shown. Why pay good money for good shows and then dump on them, dumping on us.

  2. Four hours of the one show is stupid in my book.
Law & Order good but four hours. come on even the umpteenth repeat of “Love Actually” was better ! And most movies do not go for four hours, but then again I do not like double episodes usually.
    Getting back to “White Collar”
I remember seeing the character “Mozzie”‘ shot but it seems like he has come back to life. What The ?
When I was programming movies a few years ago I would make a decision and stick to it.
Blue Bloods another great show shafted, I was thinking of buying some shares in TEN but I will wait until they get their programming correct, they can do it with “Merlin” why cant they do it with other shows ?

  3. @Craig, the SVU eps which screened last night were the last 2 of Season 13, “Strange Beauty” and “Rhodium Nights” which led into the story arc which began Season 14 about Captain Cragen being involved in the death of an escort.

I’m not a White Collar watcher. I just think it’s unacceptable that shows can be on one week and off the next with no consideration for the viewers. Replacing with a repeat when there is new content available is even worse. Thumbs down to Ten :X

  4. Are you surprised Ten shafted it or surprised with the response on here David?

47 comments for a show Ten supposedly thinks no one likes is pretty incredible. Ten really has no idea what viewers want to watch anymore (evident by their dud shows they screened this year). And viewers clearly have no faith in Ten anymore. Next year will just be worse for Ten, I can’t see how they’re going to win people back.

  5. Thanks for the clarification David.

Just one question, the EPS was not updated (still has White Collar) which Law and Order: SVU eps did air tonight, I don’t think I saw them before? I just caught the end of the 2nd one.

  6. I am the 45th responder to this article. An enormous amount for a show which Ten decided after one week to shaft.

Don’t worry they know what they are doing. They are saving it for a rainy day just like the last six unseen episodes of Medium from two years ago, just like season 3 of Saving Grace from 2 years ago yet we are seeing repeats of season 2.

But if you are a fan of B grade New Zealand fare which counts towards their Aussie content quota, you are in for a treat. You get an entire season of Go Girls shown at odd times over a two week period, and I would imagine The Almighty Johnsons will get the same treatment. But it may be all over the place but at least it is shown.

  7. I agree they should at least show it on One or 11. They were actually showing the first and second series on One till recently, then started showing some repeats late on Fridays on 10. Then they advertised their summer line up and it was there. It is ridiculous showing repeats of the same shows over and over when they have new episodes of other shows. I like Blue Bloods too, and have been hoping they would bring that back too. I’m just glad they haven’t treated Homeland so shabbily.

  8. It is a bit of the chicken or the egg. Are there fewer viewers because no shows or no shows because of fewer viewers.?
Why ten won’t show White Collar, Blue Bloods and I am sure a lot more I am not thinking of is beyond me

  9. @HardcorePrawn – yes it’s confusing, my understanding while it’s the non ratings period this just means advertisers aren’t paying attention. They still collect ratings details.

I agree dropping a new show for re-runs just for a few more points that don’t really count towards anything is just alienating viewers driving more to by the DVDs or find the shows they want else where. Or just watch something else.

It will be interesting to see the numbers this week and if there is such a mess up with the EPG and of course the printed programs are going to be wrong will the numbers even go up?

We’ll find out tomorrow I guess.

  10. If I remember correctly, White Collar and Blue Bloods premiered together on the same night. Still waiting on the latter.

Now 2 great shows have disappeared into the sunset… Way to go Ten.

  11. White Collar was actually advertised on Ten here in Canberra this morning, after I’d read this story. My EPG still says a Law and Order repeat.

It’s bad enough pulling a program all over the schedule at short notice. But when the network itself can’t even make up its mind, is it any wonder that viewers give up?

  12. Sorry, i thought Ten wanted viewers to come back to their network! Seriously, why would anyone bother watch anything on Ten when this is what constantly happens. They’ve lost all trust now.
It doesn’t affect me, i gave up on Ten long ago, so i’m all up to date with White Collar, waiting for the return in January.

The funny thing is, White Collar premieres during the US summer period, and rates quite well for a Summer show.

  13. I personally don’t watch white collar but it seems silly to stop showing a show during non ratings and replace it with a repeat. Then the commercial networks wonder why they can’t build an audience for a show and we the viewer become frustrated as to why are show is not being shown. I share people’s frustration with this as Drop Dead Diva season 4 not being shown by GEM and its non ratings period.

  14. Since moving to Australia nearly 8 years ago I have never understood the concept behind the non-ratings period.

For this migrant it seems really odd. Christmas is surely a time when advertising dollars should be there for the taking; and during the hottest months of the year it can often be too hot to do anything but sit in front of a fan or AC unit.
But instead of capitalising on these factors the networks broadcast the flops, the failures and lots of repeats.

Now, a show like White Collar, which I can see has its fans, is pulled from the December schedules because a repeat of SVU would rate higher?
So, ratings in the Summer do matter?
    I’m confused…

  15. Talk about running around like chooks with their heads cut off – that just about sums up Ten’s management. What gets me that there’s never any on-air apology for the constant cancellation of programs, on any station. They don’t even try to make excuses.

What don’t they understand about never gaining an audience for a particular program if it’s constantly appearing and disappearing. If companies still had mail boys, I reckon that’s who’s running TEN. Truly pathetic.

  16. Wow, just when I thought there was going to be something I could watch over summer! They better not take off Burn Notice too.
If there’s only going to be repeats and Reality shows on then my boxsets of dropped shows like Primeval, Justified, and Vampire Diaries will be coming out.

  17. couldn’t they have moved it to a late night slot on the same night or even to One at the exact same timeslot? and pair it with Blue Bloods? the show has never really worked on Ten.
