9 Comments:

  1. @ bettestreep,
I hope you’re not intimating that MCA is quality scripted entertainment. I agree with your comments re the other purveyors of dung soon to grace our screens, but I believe it is not possible for anything to make Masterchef look better. The show’s dead in the water.

  2. @JimboJomes I agree, I think it would better suit midweek timeslot, from straight off they’ve made you care about the characters, even Caroline & her neurosis, and it deals very well with realistic situations of people in their late 30’s early 40’s.

  3. @MartinaC – I originally wrote TooL off as just another soap opera, but I have to confess it is indeed a very well done drama. Perhaps that’s its Achilles’ Heel – it’s too well done. It’s not trashy enough to attract the traditional soap opera crowd. It’s not silly/funny enough to go up against House Husbands. It’s not edgy/dark enough to be a substitute for The Slap. It’s not melodramatic enough to coax viewers away from A Place To Call Home.

Perhaps TooL is a bit too intelligent for a relaxed Sunday night viewing experience?

  4. No sign of Once Upon A Time on the secondary channels ratings, then how many people knew that new episodes had been moved to 7Two on Sundays at 6:30pm (starting yesterday with repeats of the proceeding epiosdes that were at 10:15pm).

Well done Seven, you had a show that was doing okay in the 7:30pm Sunday timeslot, put it on twice then three times a week. Where Once Upon A Time hovered over the 800,000 mark even up against the Olympics, then played more time-slot shuffle games with it and now it is being shown with little to no notice on 7Two.

A show like Once Upon A Time is technically a family show and 6:30pm is probably a good time-slot for it, however you played around with it too much Seven and lost the core viewers (Families with children).

  5. Viewer fatigue appears to have well and truly set in with MCA, it has a vibe now like the final season of Ido, though Idol pulled much better figures than that. The public’s imagination has not been captured at all this year. Being up against reno juggernauts has really damaged it. Also, I think a lot of its momentum has been stolen by MKR. I don’t like its chances against The Mole, but I reckon The Great Bake Off is going to be a turkey.

  6. bettestreep2008

Randwick – the reason Masterchef is rating so badly is because it is competing against reality crap like The Block and House Rules.

But don’t worry – Seven is replacing House Rules next week with quality scripted entertainment like The Mole and Nine will replace The Block with quality scripted entertainment like The Great Bake Off.

And after this Nine and Seven will give us even more quality scripted entertainment like X Factor, Australia’s Got Talent, Dancing with the stars and Big Brother.

Hmmm – Masterchef is looking a lot better now don’t you think?

  7. Masterchef ratings are an embarrassment – please don’t replace this with other reality crap – put on some scripted entertainment ……..
