TV schedules waiting for election Debate

We're still waiting for confirmation of the first Election Debate and how it will impact on TV schedules and talent shows.

2013-08-07_1131We’re still waiting to see where the first Debate of the campaign is going to land this Sunday night with reports emerging that all the major television networks have contacted Labor asking to host debates.

One format has been jointly proposed by Seven and Facebook. That would likely see the Debate air at 8pm following its 90 minute X Factor lead in. Seven already has Sunday Night pencilled in for 8pm.

As we know Nine is launching Australia’s Got Talent at 6:30pm head to head against X Factor, but with Seven’s show already firing, Nine is at risk of losing that fight. Nabbing the Debate on Nine and pushing it to a 6:30 could avoid an ugly loss.

But ABC is also considered the national broadcaster while SKY News has David Speers as a respected moderator on offer.

Maybe Nine should just offer to put one leader in the safe house, another in the halfway house and we vote to evict one via SMS?

  1. Debate? Who needs it?
I wish we could vote tomorrow and get it over with, I’m sick and tired of all the rock star rubbish.
If people don’t know who to vote for by now, they haven’t been paying attention.

  2. I am led to believe the debate will screen exclusively on Seven, with Mark Riley as moderator. However I also am informed that Tony Abbott has not agreed to a Facebook debate, so it will be a traditional debate only. Not sure what time it will air though

  3. I watched this this morning on Seven 11.30 news and they were talking about the 7Facebook debate, where ordinary people along with journos and commentators would ask the questions, i think that is better then just a bunch of journos asking questions.
