Gone: The Good Wife

TEN has done a backflip on its plans to return The Good Wife to air next week.

2013-10-17_1712Sorry Good Wife fans.

TEN has done a backflip on its plans to return The Good Wife to air next week.

Now instead we will get more NCIS: LA repeats 9:30pm Wednesdays from next week.

I suspect TEN is treading water until it can re-schedule Sleepy Hollow which is off air in the US for a few weeks. Wouldn’t be surprised if it moves to this slot.

NCIS and NCIS: LA remain first-run episodes next Tuesday night.

The outlook doesn’t look too flash for The Good Wife now, so it may be held until February. Not sure….

  1. Like a couple of others, I can wait until it’s finally scheduled. People who don’t follow sites like this would be oblivious to all the manoeuvrings going on, and probably don’t care all that much.

Not all of us are obsessed with the minutiae of television, we have other things in our lives. Although there’s plenty to complain about our television networks, holding a new series back for a few months isn’t one of them, as far as I’m concerned.

As I’ve commented before, fans who “seek to view it by other means” have nothing to look forward to, except a never-ending search for the very latest whatever-it-may-be. Where’s the anticipation?

  2. @Dalmanic
Nobody watches much drama on Nine either. That’s why Nine have News, and more News, the TBBT and more TBBT, BB, The Block, The Voice, AGT, cricket and League.

Downton Abbey, A Place To Call Home, The Blacklist, New Tricks and House Husbands are the only dramas with 1M+ viewers. Under The Dome started well but dropped to 800k by the end of the season.

  3. @Pertinax – Yep that is about all The Good Wife will bring in, it was even under that at times when it was on last time (like sub 285,000), didn’t make it in to the top 20 for the whole season. It was one of the shows people where talking about on David’s Rating summary pages that they couldn’t believe was doing so poorly.

  4. Despite network Ten’s best efforts they never been able to kill off ‘The Good Wife’ and many other high rating overseas shows/series.
How long before many of these production companies, will only let network Ten buy the rights to shows that have reached their ‘ Use By Date ‘ and are the ones they themselves want to end?
David can you confirm a rumour I’ve heard please, that instead of The Good Wife, network Ten plan to air a sure winner for them, the long running series called ‘ Death Wish 10 ‘

  5. That’s ok. I can wait till February for new episodes of The Good Wife. And I don’t think TEN would have shown that many episodes of The Good Wife anyway because it’s almost the end of the ratings season.

  6. The new season of The Good Wife has been spectacular so far. Fans of the show should treat Channel 10 with the same contempt Ten treats them – find any programs you’d normally watch on Ten elsewhere.

  7. Seems that they are all at it. C7 looks to have pulled Mistresses and will air double Scandal. They already took of Men at Work, both these shows are in late night slots. Mistresses should have been on 7Two from the beginning and Men at Work on 7Mate. C9 is no longer showing new CSI:NY instead its 3 hours of Top Gear, again. Why not show new CSI:NY on GEM on Saturday instead of all the repeats. So when does the silly season begin exactly. Sarcasm included.

  8. The Good Wife will only rate 300k and its not going to boost Ten’s ratings. Ten are probably figuring some late night TV for 2014 alongside Off Spring and Under The Dome makes more sense.

Ratings 18-49 for this season aren’t good in the US, and it has enough eps for syndication now, so it looks like this could be the final season for The Good Wife. The Cancellation Bear is saying that CBS will axe one or both of The Good Wife and The Mentalist (which reveals Red John in the first block of this season and deals with the aftermath in the second).

  9. They’re doing a Channel 9? Well i never. I was looking forward to this too. Especially with what i’ve heard about the new season too. Its a shame really.

  10. So would we rather when a show finishes just fill your schedule with ‘TBA’?
Poor old Ten, they lose if they schedule something then pull it a week out. They lose if they fill their schedule with TBA.
It’s a growing problem across all networks, no one seems to be patient enough to wait for networks to schedule shows. Should we just finish tv and make everyone download everything?

  11. The future for this show is now very simple. Fans of the show will seek to view it by other means. When it is shown on ch10 its potential fanbase will have diminished and the result will be another ratings failure. The vicious ever decreasing circle continues…..

  12. This is now good (see what I did there) but being serious they wonder why fans go else where, no promos and no sign of the show returning unless you visit sites like this and now its being held back. Maybe local TV should get the rights to put some shows online, so local fans can still watch them legally?
