Trickett, who has long been a panel commentator on the show, interviewed Cadel Evans earlier this week as her first assignment.
“I’m really excited to join the Today show team. It’s always been a dream of mine to work in breakfast television and I’m proud to be part of such an amazing production, with a wonderful group of people,” Trickett said. “I’m looking forward to bringing our viewers stories in and around health, well-being and sport throughout the year.”
Lisa Wilkinson said: “Libby is one talented woman. I can’t wait for our viewers to see she’s not just an awesome athlete, but a natural broadcaster too.”
Karl Stefanovic added: “Everybody loves Libby. She already feels like family. And we just love having Queenslanders on the show. The more the merrier.”
Trickett previously appeared on TEN after joining for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, and later roles on Thursday Night Live and Sports Tonight before appearing on Seven’s Dancing with the Stars.
