18 Comments:

  1. Oh dear TEN, the sport wasn’t even a short term fix to your problems. You was wrong to think it ever would be. Now, people are switching off of you even more. But, simply how can TEN turn it around on a poultry share of just 6.8%! It’s so bad.

  2. Congratulations to Seven and Nine. Commiserations to Ten. Although I’m still wondering about SBS and that frequency change…

I wish to thank the ABC for the News although I missed some of it partway through. Also ABC2 for Seconds From Disaster. If I could offer one criticism it would be the EPG description is too generic. It’s helpful to those unfamiliar with the show. But I am familiar with it so I’d appreciate if it had of mentioned Fukushima. Just the word as well as the rest. I did notice the disincentive to watch Louis Theroux as well as the incentive to watch with the ad in the break. Other than those niggles I loved the experience.

Also thank you to Eleven for Supernatural plus the ABC for Q&A and Lateline. Lastly belatedly Seven for Downton and Castle. Not perfect experiences. I hope I don’t regret mentioning

  3. “…with cookies you can stop double voting as well.”

Completely untrue. If it were that simple, it would already be happening. It’s way too easy to “vote” multiple times on multiple devices; eg PC, laptop, tablet, phone, all the work/school/uni/library/cafe computers you can get your hands on, etc. Plus, it’s easy to delete cookies and change your ip and “vote” again.

Lastly, the current system measures what channels the TVs in each OzTAM household are on, not what someone says they were on the previous day.

If every one of your friends/people you talked to didn’t watch a particular popular program, that says a lot about you and nothing about the ratings system. Almost none of the programs I watch appear in the Top 20 and that’s fine.

  4. Nine’s Love Child has lost some viewers after last week. TEN continues to take its toll in shares after being beaten by ABC1. Channel Ten has suffered headaches after the Sochi Olympic Games.

  5. No, Ratings are a rough analysis using complex formulas from a small sample. I believe it gets near the mark but could be enhanced by a web based site where people like us could fill in what we watched and recorded. Surely can’t harm and with cookies you can stop double voting as well.

Stop picking on bettestreep2008 – I can understand her frustration. We need to keep pushing for augmenting the collected data with much bigger internet gathered data to make it more accurate.

Lachlan needs to kick his Dad somewhere because Newscorp knock every show on Ten even if their company Shine produced it.

TV Week for next week has about 8 pages on MKR and 4 on The Block and very little for any Ten shows. Owned by Bauer now but they still think they are owned by 7 or 9, whoever owned them last.

Ten has an uphill battle in many ways. Lachlan needs to cut his ties to Daddy and start…

  6. @ bettestreep 2008
The pendulum swings both ways when it comes to TV viewing. I personally cannot stand shows like MKR etc., but I understand why people do.
There have been many others who have made similar statements throughout the last three or so years such as….’Nobody I know watches this’ and so and so forth.’
“We spoke to work colleagues, neighbours, class mates etc. and no one was watching the shows that were in the top 20.” If that statement wasn’t silly enough, the next one claiming that your family’s people meter was dragging down the ratings was a real pearler and could be regarded as ludicrous.
So many times people have disagreed with my views, but you accept the criticism and move on. I believe you should accept the fact there are at least another 2,000,000 viewers who disagree with yours and stop the constant fantasising.

  7. I’m honestly certain david & corrine are paid actors for Australia to hate. (1) they seem way too relaxed (2) they seem clueless when it comes to cooking (3) they’re delusional (4) the way they act on my kitchen rules seems very rehearsed. I personally like them. But a lot of people don’t.

  8. I spoke to a number of people this morning and noone admitted to watching MKR or Block. Either they were lying or they did in fact not watch these shows.

Which begs the question – who is watching these shows?

I think Oztam needs to reshuffle their people meters cos something very fishy is going on.

When my family had a people meter installed many years ago, not one of the shows we watched made it into the Top 20. We spoke to work colleagues, neighbours, class mates etc and noone was watching the shows that were in the Top 20. (Or they watched them but were too embarrassed to admit it).

After about 6 months of not watching any of the Top 20 shows, our people meter was removed. And surprise surprise the shows we were not watching all got a boost in the ratings.

Obviously we were dragging the ratings down by not watching these shows.

Time for a shake up folks.

    2m…

  9. ~6% two nights in a row for TEN.. it just keeps getting worse and worse… you’d think that Lachlan Murdoch, with all his connections in the media industry, would be able to find someone to help fix up the mess that TEN is

  10. Wow, Network Ten have managed to do a first in Olympic Games coverage. Normally, there is a bounce in ratings post olympic games. Ten have had a gigantic thud ! What a waste of opportunity by them.. $20M well spent – Not !

  11. jezza the first original one

The death throes of ch10 continue. It doesn’t matter which execs are in charge or how the shows are shuffled around. These sort of numbers will lead to closure without the help of the aussie billionaires.

There are quite a few ‘anateur armchair’ programmers who put forward ideas of what ch10 should do with their schedule. Forget it! and face facts that the kids who used to watch the channel have gone for good, never to return.

They do have some really good shows, yet I have no idea how the hell they are gonna get a decent audience back….MKR mega numbers
