Returning: Smash

US music drama Smash makes its return to Seven next week in the late-night slot.

2014-02-17_1324US music drama Smash makes its return to Seven next week in the late-night slot of 11:45pm Tuesdays from February 25.

While it’s a downgrade for the series it has already played out on Foxtel and, in truth, this was a very uneven season. It has its moments and the cast includes Jennifer Hudson and Sean Hayes, but ultimately the show was not renewed for a third season.

On Broadway
Back from a successful run in Boston, Eileen, Julia and Tom are blindsided by both personal and professional obstacles as they seek to take ‘Bombshell’ to Broadway while a new talent is discovered in an unexpected place.

  1. The new showrunner made a point of burying most of the bad things from S1 early on.

Unfortunately for every good thing thing he adds there is also something truly terrible. It also suffers from the fact that in remaking Bombshell they effectively trash what was the best thing in S1.

  2. Oh season two has its strengths most notably Jeremy Jordan, who, even if his character is negatively written is such a star (his movie version of “The Last 5 Years”later this year will prove this)and so dynamic, he is quite irresistable to watch. Then you have the actor playing Kyle who is currently starring in “Les Miz”on Broadway. the worst aspect is Jennifer Hudson who has no reason to be there and disappears after the first few episodes and finally you have the amazing Megan Hilty finally getting to sing “Don’t Forget Me” and then Bernadette Peters’ role is expanded, oh yes there are highlights.
