He's turned down $300,000 and now Pierre Sutcliffe is rocking the $500,000.

55 year old Pierre Sutcliffe will be the first contestant to play for half a million dollars on the Seven quiz.

Sutcliffe, aka Pierre Voltaire, was the original singer and bass guitarist for 1980s band The Models, best known for ‘Out of Mind, Out of Sight’.

Having decided against taking the $300,000, he will leave the show with the ‘safety net’ jackpot of $75,000 if he’s defeated by a new opponent today.

5:30pm today on Seven.

  1. Oops contect should be contest.
Pierre will be on Saturday’s Weekend Sunrise to talk about tonight’s game and how he feels about possibly becoming the first Million Dollar Man!

  2. For those who missed today’s exciting nail-baiting MDM (what were you doing?) the last round was a close contect between Pierre and challenger Jason, with Pierre coming through by one question.

Pierre didn’t win the $500,000 as he only got 2 out of 5 right in the Million Dollar Minute, so he’ll be back on Monday for a second crack at half a million.

  3. Given how close he was to losing tonight if he eventually wins the $500,000 I think there is zero chance he will go for the million.

  4. Good luck to him, and I hope he wins, but he is sooo boring to watch. The previous two contestants to win $300,000, Braden and Alex were both enjoyable to watch.
