Just my opinion…but maybe if networks catered for all viewers instead of one particular group…would they do better?!?

  2. once-upon-a-time

I’ve been out of the supervision, construction & work cover compliance game etc. for sometime, and no doubt much has changed(watered down or perhaps ‘costed’ special exceptions issued? ), either that or much may be going on behind the scenes with Network Nines ‘Block’ enterprise, much more than we are led to believe or not shown

One scary aspect seems that supposedly amateur DIY’ers are carrying out work that could require ‘ ticketed’ expertise, as in the rushed repair of multistory external window frames that involves repairing/attacking structural frames (initially dip galvanized??) with grinders etc, and subsequent welding repairs and re-coating etc.to what/original thickness??.

No doubt/hopefully that Network Nine has their ‘own’, the ‘blockheads’ and ‘buyers’ best interests fully protected, and truth is only withheld to protect the drama.

  3. @WolfieBoy – I’ve watched The Block most years and haven’t minded the 2 a year airings, however due to the format of The Block GH this year have tuned out. It’s for what you basically said as well, in made up drama, it’s like they’re trying to do a hybrid version of Big Brother with thus one.

When the extra column came into the scoreboard to have the contestants vote on each others rooms, that was it for it me. I don’t want that sort of drama on this show, I like the more natural aspect of when someone is struggling (emotionally or with a build) the contestants pitch in and help. Think when Dale ended up in Hospital and Sophie was left on her own, the human spirit kicked in and that is way better than the compete at all costs constructed drama.

Nine might need to learn from TEN with Masterchef on this, return to basics of The Block and have a show that is a bit more warm…

  4. Nine, 8.30 – BBT….Go!, 8.30 – BBT….great variety from the Nine Network. I am thinking that TEN will keep Family Feud on both channels permanently.

  5. TEN Network doing terrific at the moment.
We watched the Bachelor and Offspring which is a fantastic Aussie show and then the recording of X-Factor. Then some Commonwealth Games and recorded the rest, over night 🙂

The Bachelor is good and that is why it is entertaining.

7 are copying The Biggest Loser now – what a joke. Knock everything on TEN then copy it LOL.

Well done TEN. Nine will have to re-think showing The Block several times a year. This high rise thing is ridiculous as it is illegal for amateurs to do such constructions, so all they can show is made up drama. The Block may die because of this silly programming/show.

  6. Comm games are obviously giving all reality a good (short lived) run for it’s money. Didn’t expect much of an increase for Bachelor given it’s not for everyone, but lots of talk online, media & in the office this morning about it plus winning in the demos.. Interestingly FF had more viewers than Ten News & The Project.. seems to be doing alright.

  7. I love the Block…But…I dont think the casting of this latest edition is good..and one thing that really is poor is the bad language ..We watch this show as a family and to listen to contestants talk about P,,,s Poor performance and refer to each other as D…heads is very off putting…Not only that, regarding the term P..s poor performance, Channel 9 even printed it twice on the screen…Not funny and if it continues we are tuning out

  8. Ten’s line up May not have rated highly but it beat the other networks in the demos. Maybe they should go back to focusing on being the young network.
