Did Seven just renew X Factor?

An early show of faith as X Factor puts out the call for new contestants for 2015.

2014-08-11_1156Last night on Luke Jacobz put out a call for new contestants for The X Factor 2015.

At just one week into Live shows, that’s certainly a show of faith especially when it is yet to hit its stride with ratings. The talent was good for a first Live performance, with Brothers 3 voted in as the Wild Card act. Seven will be hoping those numbers lift as performances show various strengths, just as Dami Im did in 2013.

Strictly speaking the call out was to register interest, an audition tour is not yet locked in, nor is the actual renewal confirmed. Seven has in the past called for contestants for shows that did not emerge (looking at you Amazing Race 2013).

But X Factor remains a strong brand for Seven and auditions this season indicated there is still plenty of talent with something to sing about.

By contrast Nine is yet to confirm a return for The Voice: Kids.

You can register your interest here. You must be 14 or over on 10 November 2014.

  1. I love that they’ve realised the only way to boost ratings is to pimp themselves to teenage girls with the banner I keep seeing pop up on Channel Seven.

“Battle of The Boy Bands! – The X Factor, Sunday!”

    Please…

  2. The worst thing is these shows are like a cancerous growth – they get longer and longer every year.

It is getting boring with the same shows on year-in, year-out now at 7.30 and then having to endure them not finishing until 8.45,9, 10 even… at the expense of all shows that follow – thankfully I watch nothing live and feel sorry for those who can only watch FTA live.

Maybe I’m just getting too old for it all…

  3. Ratings are down yes, but as much as I hate this show I’m not surprised.

The amount of money Seven put in to it & make doing this show… there’s no way they wouldn’t. That’s what pisses me off. It’s just a show. They couldn’t give a damn about the talent or their career prospects in music. It’s just a show. Nothing else.

Plus the judges need the show too. Or else what are they gonna do? Poor buggers.

  4. Fill in the gaps folks typing before I proof read it. Reall kitty is reality and so on!!!. Let me b a programmer ill make ten rule again!!! The whole fta is piss week!

  5. Aaahhhhhhh it’s prime time ratings and we served nothing !! all I watch on sat pm is repeats of csi on gem!! Why not have red kitty shows then leave Sunday for their flag ship current shows!!! Wich sis garbage anyway. They r crap they don’t deserve are ratings I’ve watch friends a million time on gem because I’m d**k if news, in perth there is news from 4 pm till 7pm not including hot seat then aca till 730 then bbt or their reality show st the time. Morings and the morinig show and studio 10 is also a recap of what we know about sunrise and today. It’s all lazy programming. Sorry I’ve had enough they all need tv tonight bloggers to give em one!!! The end !!!!!

  6. David ur blog is ace best thing around!!! Fta is is absolutely shit. 7 9 10 multi channels repeats of crap. WTF it’s all bad nothing on TV anymore. Put the voice or X factor in Friday or Saturday it will better than what going in now!! Bottom line it’s all shit. Sorry folks, I love tv but it’s all turn too garbage now!!!!! Running over time swapping stuff blah blah blah. Everybody on this site knows it!!!!!!!

  7. I’d say its not going anywhere because if Seven did drop it TEN would pick it up in a heartbeat. I hope its not going anywhere anyway. The talent this year shows there is still a market for the show. Its not rating like it did last year but still a very solid show. Mind you Seven did cancel A Place to Call Home which was a huge shock. Still not happy with that decision. Seven should be ashamed of themselves.

  8. @TVTim, you can’t be serious, I think it is the best lineup of talent they’ve had in years. Well done to the judges, they’ve delivered a very strong final 13. The only one I’m not crazy about is Marlisa, as I have never been fond of teens singingoverkill power ballads and emoting like pint sized Mariah Careys. Apart from her, it is a very strong field. But I do take your point about the standing ovations, there were far too many of them.

  9. This is the worst top 12 (13) they have had so far. The talent just isnt there this year. And I am unsure what the judges were watching because it wasnt the same we were seeing on TV, a standing ovation for every act was overkill….
